John MacArthur Hosting The "Gospel" Coalition.

**UPDATE**

Burn your "Strange Fire" book. It means nothing now.

John MacArthur will be hosting The "Gospel" Coalition at Grace Community Church this October. It's a pastors conference. Because I guess one pastors conference a year isn't enough.

"Pastors expect to help others through times of suffering. But many do not realize how much they, too, will suffer. Caught off guard, many end up deeply hurt and quit the ministry, deciding that perhaps they misunderstood God’s call or that they simply do not have what it takes. Pastors and ministry leaders who work alongside them need encouragement to run the race with endurance.
In The Gospel Coalition’s first West Coast Conference—Enduring Faithfulness—veteran pastors from around the country will open 2 Timothy and consider the example of Paul, who fought the good fight and kept his faith in Jesus Christ. Dozens of other workshops will explore various aspects of gospel ministry, from appreciating the beauty of Christian sexual ethics to thinking creatively about faith and work. Several workshops will profile historical examples such as Jonathan Edwards and Augustine to show they instruct and challenge us today in ministry that lasts a lifetime and beyond.
We invite you to join us October 16 to 18, at Grace Community Church in Sun Valley, California."
This is the same TGC that blasphemed Christ recently when Rebecca McLaughlin mocked Christ saying he's like the new "Dr. Who" (the new Dr. Who is a lesbian). Yeah. That's this TGC . Go here for an explanation.

Among the speakers are some social justice warriors who tout their "good" deeds, charismatics, and a woman rapper. Of note is this guy:

What does his church believe? Would they be in line with the Strange Fire conference rhetoric? No.
It's a charismatic church:

"
We believe that all the gifts of the Holy Spirit at work in the church of the first century are operational today. This includes signs and wonders, as well as all the gifts described in the New Testament. Though neither essential for salvation nor an indication of spiritual maturity, these gifts are designed to testify to the presence of the kingdom and to empower and edify the church to fulfill its calling and mission and therefore are to be earnestly desired and practiced.(Acts 2:14-214:29-30Romans 12:3-81 Corinthians 12:7-1128-3114:1-33Galatians 3:1-5)" ~Refuge LA

One topic that will be discussed at the TGC conference at MacArthur's church is this:
Communicating the Beauty of Christian Sexual Ethics
Joshua Ryan Butler
Sex is everywhere in our culture, yet an intimidating subject for many Christians to talk about. We may be convinced God's vision for sex is true, but is it also good and beautiful? This workshop will explore some fresh language, imagery, and concepts from Scripture, to help us communicate biblical sexual ethics winsomely, narratively, and beautifully to a culture that is highly skeptical of the Christian vision.

End quote.
I don't know what is going on but it seems sex is a big topic with more and more Evangelicals like Driscoll, Voskamp, & Piper. And "ethics" is not the same as biblical doctrine. Ethics are optional views borne of pragmatism in a niche area. They change from profession to profession, culture to culture, religion to religion. It's a code of behavior, not absolute, objective Truth found only in Scripture. So a man is going to share his personal ethics and tell others how they should view Christian sex. And why do we need this? And why would we care what the world thinks, IF they even have a view on what they think is the Christian view on sex? This is a conference for mature men of the faith---elders---don't they already know this stuff? Come on.
Scripture warns us of those with persuasive speech:
1Co 2:1  And when I came to you, brethren, I did not come with superiority of speech or of wisdom, proclaiming to you the testimony of God. 2  For I determined to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ, and Him crucified. 3  And I was with you in weakness and in fear and in much trembling. 4  And my message and my preaching were not in persuasive words of wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, 5  that your faith should not rest on the wisdom of men, but on the power of God
The foundation of TGC is corrupt. Tim Keller, it's co-founder is not a Christian. He's a Marxist New Calvinist  who denies the sound doctrine of Creation and contextualizes the Bible and its Gospel . For more info on him go here.
Also, I wrote about TGC & T4G here.
