As usual, when I'm thinking or listening to something in the political arena, I often think of the spiritual arena. Today I heard about an article that called these White House "townhall meetings" nothing but "astro turf", and rightly so. I'd like to borrow that term for many "churches" in today's "Christianity".
Astro-Turf Churches:
* no roots
* won't grow
*no life
*no fruit
* deceiving: looks green and real until you get up close and personal
*needs no weekly maintainence like: mowing, watering, fertilizing
*expensive with little responsibility/care
*injury occurs (nice burns) if you slide on it
*synthetic, not authentic
Like astro-turf - fields, they come in all sizes: some are small some are large. They all have astro-turf shepherds, astro-turf worship, astro-turf believers, and astro-turf spirituality.
