I believe this is very much the case within "Evangelical Christianity" which is why so many unbelievers see no integrity in Christianity. A false gospel will not change a life; it will merely excuse one's rebellion against God, leaving that soul still in the state of being under the righteous wrath of the thrice Holy God.
Salvation is HIS way nor no way, as is sanctification.
