Russia's president, Vladimir Putin is dissolving the mainstream state news agency in order to form one that he has more control over.
"Most Russian media outlets are already loyal to Putin, and opponents get little air time, but the shake-up underlined their importance to Putin keeping power and the Kremlin's concern about the president's ratings and image."

Here in the US, we also have the same issue with our mainstream media: its a PR machine for Obama. I can totally see Obama looking to Putin for inspiration.
