Doctrine

To tamper with doctrine is to tamper with God. He is married to His doctrine, for it comes from His heart and bears His nature.

The sound doctrine of Scripture can no more be divorced from each other ("non-essentials") than one can divorce the Persons in the Trinity from each other.

Eph 4:4  There is one body and one Spirit, just as also you were called in one hope of your calling;
Eph 4:5  one Lord, one faith, one baptism,
Eph 4:6  one God and Father of all who is over all and through all and in all.

As a brother has rightly said, if you tamper with justification, you tamper with the Justifier; if you tamper with sanctification, you tamper with the Sanctifier.
