The Hypocrisy of Piper On Warren

A video that shows yet again the hypocrisy of John Piper regarding his friend Rick Warren. Piper shows his willing ignorance of Warren, who has historically proclaimed a false gospel.

Is that what Warren preaches? I thought that was what people like Osteen preach... Not saying Warren isn't preaching something wrong, just didn't think it was that.

Side note: I just left The Village Church (Chandler) after 6 years for a PCA church. A lot started to feel "off" with what I was reading in the Bible.

Yes, Warren isn't much better than Joel Osteen. In fact I think he's far more dangerous because of his wide popularity and because he is far more subversive.

At any rate, should you be interested in what Warren has taught here's a list: http://surphside.blogspot.com/2009/03/why-rick-warren-is-false-teacher.html

And Chandler is another problem--you might have noticed perhaps a more Charismatic direction, or the Emergent direction, that they are going over there. Good to escape that, for sure!

Still don't see an issue with Chandler's preaching. Had more to do with how "church" was done on the ground level.

I noticed you called him out for sharing the stage at some more mainstream conferences. Isn't it a good thing to get good teachers in front of people? Him preaching at a conference wouldn't mean he endorses everyone at the conference.

Even John MacArthur has preached at Piper's conferences a few times, and you call Piper out left and right on this blog.

When one preaches at a conference, especially repeatedly, there is common ground proclaimed, which is the problem with Chandler. "Everything" doesn't have to be agreed upon in order to have that common ground.

2Co 11:4 For if someone comes and proclaims another Jesus than the one we proclaimed, or if you receive a different spirit from the one you received, or if you accept a different gospel from the one you accepted, you put up with it readily enough.

2Jn 1:9 Everyone who goes on ahead and does not abide in the teaching of Christ, does not have God. Whoever abides in the teaching has both the Father and the Son.

2Jn 1:10 If anyone comes to you and does not bring this teaching, do not receive him into your house or give him any greeting, 11 for whoever greets him takes part in his wicked works.

Scripture says we are not to greet, let alone share the pulpit with false teachers yet that's what Chandler has in fact done. I believe that a person who speaks at a conference is indeed endorsing that conference, regardless if they "agree" with everything or not (and who would ever claim to agree with everything?). Just because its mainline, doesn't mean its biblical.

As for MacArthur, he hasn't shared the pulpit with Piper now for a while, and I truly believe that unless Piper repents, we won't see them together at any conference from here on out.

How "church is done" is the result of the church leader's doctrine. Pragmatism is antithetical to biblical doctrine, and definitly to Sola Scriptura, which Chandler claims to hold to as a "Reformer".
