Here's why Michael Patton is a false teacher. As I state in the article, Patton doesn't believe the biblical account of Genesis. This isn't surprising, considering Patton has already declared war on the Word in doubting Its inerrancy (clearly he is VERY Post-Modern and even tries to redefine "inerrancy" accordingly). He actually says that there's a DANGER to holding to the inerrancy of Scripture. So with this war started, he now battles against Genesis' account of Creation. In addition he feeds on doubt and skepticism, rather than the Truth we KNOW. Scripture doesn't deal with probabilities, but knowable Truth. This is the epitome of the Post-Modern view. So why would Justin Taylor promote such garbage?

"Evangelicalism", MacArthur, Spurgeon and Piper
2Pe 2:1 But false prophets also arose among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Master who bought them, bringing upon themselves swift destruction.
I was finishing John MacArthur's updated "Ashamed of the Gospel" book and he said something that is very applicable to Piper's defiant endorsement of Rick Warren, Doug Wilson, Paul Tripp, and Driscoll. MacArthur says what many of us have observed ourselves.
Here's what MacArthur says in his book (remember this was before Piper came out defiantly promoting Rick Warren):
"..that liberals arose from within evangelical ranks, used evangelical vocabulary, and gained acceptance through relentless appeals for peace and tolerance. The new modernism is following precisely the same course, and that tactice seems likely to take evangelicals by surprise once again.
Most of the market-driven megachurches insist they would never compromise doctrine. They are attractive to evangelicals precisely became they claim to be as orthodox in their doctrine as they are unorthodox in their methodology. Multitudes are sufficiently reassured by such promises and simply abandon their critical faculties, thus increasing their vulnerability. Unfortunately, real discernment is in short supply among modern evangelicals.

This is absolutely true and what I've been saying about Piper and the Warren/Piper/Driscoll defenders. Maybe hearing MacArthur say it, they'll actually consider it this time.

Will there arise no honest, out-spoken evangelicals among Dissenters to expose and repudiate this latitudinarianism? Are all the watchmen asleep? Are all the churches indifferent?" - Spurgeon

"We would like to agree with one who says that the bulk of our church-members love the old gospel; but we are not quite sure of it. If there were so general a soundness in the rank and file, would they quietly endure the abounding errors of the pulpits, and the babyish amusements with which congregations are being drenched? We fear the plague is among the people as well as among the priests. Yet, surely, there must be some who will fling aside the dastard love of peace, and speak out for our Lord, and for his truth. A craven spirit is upon many, and their tongues are paralyzed. Oh, for an outburst of true faith and holy zeal!"
Act 20:29 I know that after my departure fierce wolves will come in among you, not sparing the flock; 30 and from among your own selves will arise men speaking twisted things, to draw away the disciples after them. 31 Therefore be alert, remembering that for three years I did not cease night or day to admonish everyone with tears.

Driscoll's Spokesman Slams Christian, Defends Islam

“In any case, Bogardus then breaks ranks, calling Schlueter an “extremely anti-muslim right-wing fanatic with a bone to pick with Mars Hill.” Interfaith dialogue between Muslims and evangelical Christians is a good thing, he adds. As for CAIR’s alleged ties to Hamas, Bogardus says he doesn’t know enough to say. Mars Hill, he says, “doesn’t currently keep up with extremist groups and their ties.”

My response: Well, Mark, Nick, if you “currently don’t keep up with extremist groups and their ties,” now would be a good time to start, particularly in light of your support for “Interfaith” meetings with Islamic groups that are so tied to terrorism that the FBI won’t even work with them. Evangelicals are the useful idiots Islamists are using to promote their Islam-lite in America. It will come back to bite.

Ah, Piper's circle of friends. So loving of error and hateful of Truth. They rather defend Islam and slam a Christian woman. How typical.
Acts 29 and Driscoll's minions are nothing more than adolescent liberals who don't want anyone to "be the boss of me"--always trying to be rebellious and cool, but in reality they are shameful, foolish, and prideful, speaking perverse things and are in impediment to the Gospel. In a word: they aren't Christians.

Driscoll's Jesus: treating what is holy as unholy and fleshly
2Co 5:16 From now on, therefore, we regard no one according to the flesh. Even though we once regarded Christ according to the flesh, we regard him thus no longer.
Sam Guzman over at Slice of Laodicea also shares my view that Driscoll's treatment of Jesus is absolutely horrific and unbiblical. He tried to delve into Driscoll's book "Vintage Jesus" but the way the man walks all over Jesus and trivializes Him made him angry. It should make every Christian angry. This is why its astonishing who defends Driscoll and his pathetic book.
Sam, you've got far more wisdom than many other men (starting with the men who endorses the "Vintage Jesus" book: Wayne Grudem, Bruce Ware, Chuck Coleson, and JI Packer) who think they can find something of spiritual value from Driscoll. But we recognize there is no life in the things of the flesh and we did not come to Jesus Christ through impurity and filth nor do we know Him according to the flesh.
Eph 4:19 They have become callous and have given themselves up to sensuality, greedy to practice every kind of impurity.
Eph 4:20 But that is not the way you learned Christ!--
Eph 4:21 assuming that you have heard about him and were taught in him, as the truth is in Jesus,
Eph 4:22 to put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires,
Eph 4:23 and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds,
Rom 8:5 For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit.
Joh 6:63 It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh is no help at all. The words that I have spoken to you are spirit and life.
I'd like to expound on the impurity issue. Here is what John MacArthur says about Eph. 4:19:
"[They] have given themselves over to lasciviousness, to work all uncleanness with greediness."
The Greek word translated "lasciviousness" (aselgeia) speaks of shameless wantonness and unblushing obscenity. It primarily refers to sexual obscenity. Basil, the fourth-century church father, defined it as a disposition of the soul incapable of bearing the pain of discipline (cited by Richard C. Trench, Synonyms of the New Testament [Grand Rapids: Eerdmans, 1983 reprint], p. 56). Some bad men will try to hide their badness, but a man given over to aselgeia doesn't care who he shocks or how indecent he is, just as long as he gratifies his own sick mind.
A person with a reprobate mind can't reason, be logical, or receive the truth. He continually gives himself to lasciviousness and does so without fear of shocking anyone. He may indulge in homosexuality, promiscuity, lying, cheating, and stealing.
"To work [Gk., ergasia, "business"] all uncleanness with greediness" implies those people make a business out of evil and lust. That's certainly true of our society. There was a day when dirty business was hidden; now it's wholesale. Pornography, prostitution, X-rated films, suggestive TV programs, and other types of uncleanness form a large industry in our country. It's been stated that the books published in America rival the drippings from a broken sewer.
Paul said such people pursue their evil with "greediness." The Greek word translated "greediness" means "a lawful desire for things that belong to others." Reprobates are after your purity, sanity, morality, and character. They want it all!

And so does Driscoll. He's so consumed with the flesh and impurity that he has placed it onto Jesus Christ Himself!
My pastor is teaching through the book of Colossians. A few weeks ago we went over this verse: Col 3:5 "Put to death therefore what is earthly in you: sexual immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry. 6 On account of these the wrath of God is coming."
Again "impurity" is a wide-based Greek word ("akatharsia") that encompasses all manner of impurity--not just sexual, but it includes even the thoughts; its a moral corruptness.
Speaking on Eph. 5:4-7, MacArthur notes also:
"Impurity is another devilish perversion of love. Here Paul employs the Greek term akatharsia, which refers to every kind of filth and impurity. Specifically, Paul has in mind “filthiness,” “foolish talk,” and “crude joking,” which are the peculiar characteristics of evil companionship. That kind of camaraderie has nothing to do with true love, and the apostle plainly says it has no place in the Christian’s walk."
