Another Hollywood celeb who has the integrity to speak his mind (and he's right, btw): James Woods. Gary Sinese is also another conservative-leaning actor (see Tweet below) giving Woods his support.  If Woods doesn't get work again, it would only prove one thing: the intolerance of the "Don't Hate" liberal Hollywood actors. It would also demonstrate that the liberals hate free speech and freedom of association when it comes to anyone who dares criticize them. Of course, the libs were and are still nasty about Bush.....

After repeatedly criticizing President Barack Obama, actor James Woods suggested in a tweet late Tuesday that his politics may cost him work in Hollywood.

 He tweeted, for example: “This President is a true abomination. To have barricaded the WW2 vets, but allow illegal aliens privilege...” The tweet linked to a USA Today article.

"Who Is My Neighbor"?

Put another way:

"Beware of those who are "more caring, tender, and merciful" than Christ. When the Lord commands certain things, such as rebuking one for sin, church discipline, casting pearls before swine, or shaking dust off one's feet, they are simply too loving to comply. "I have the gift of compassion" they say. They have a gift alright, but they got it from Adam and not Christ. The gift of explaining away God's commands and their autonomy."

It is the love of God, of truth, and the souls of others to warn and rebuke them in their unrepentant sin. But first one must know what sin is according to Scripture; that is to say, one must judge what is sin according to God's holy standard.

Increasingly many professing Christians refuse to judge sodomy to be an abomination of sin and instead try to excuse it away and tolerate it as if they are more loving than those nasty judgmental, Bible-thumping Christians, and definitely more loving than Christ Jesus Himself---the Author of Scripture who commands that we rebuke professing Christians in unrepentant sin.

In five years I believe these self-same tolerant "Christians" will be excusing and tolerating pedophilia. That is the next unnatural and perverse sin and behavior that the world is right now justifying, at least in psychological circles (as happened with homosexuality back in the 1970's).

Wisdom To Counsel: the sufficiency of Scripture

      

"Concerning you, my brethren, I myself also am convinced that you yourselves are full of goodness, filled with all knowledge, and able also to admonish one another" (Rom. 15:14).

In recent years the question of who is competent to counsel has become an important issue in the church. Many pastors and other church leaders have curtailed their counseling ministries or stopped them altogether. They've been made to feel inadequate for not having formal training in psychological counseling techniques.
Behind this movement away from pastoral counseling is the subtle implication that the Holy Spirit and Scripture are incapable of addressing the deepest needs of the human heart. It is claimed that only secular psychology dispensed by trained analysts can do that.

But the truth is, the heart of man is "more deceitful than all else and is desperately sick; who can understand it?" (Jer. 17:9). No one. That includes humanistic counselors. Verse 10 says, "I, the Lord, search the heart, I test the mind." Only God can understand the human heart.

David prayed, "O Lord, Thou hast searched me and known me. Thou dost know when I sit down and when I rise up; Thou dost understand my thought from afar. Thou dost scrutinize my path and my lying down, and art intimately acquainted with all my ways. . . . Where can I go from Thy Spirit? Or where can I flee from Thy presence?" (Ps. 139:1-3, 7).

Only God knows what's in a person's heart. Only His Spirit working through His Word can penetrate one's deepest thoughts and motives to transform the heart and renew the mind (Heb. 4:12; Rom. 12:2).

Professional psychologists are no substitute for spiritually gifted people who know the Word, possess godly wisdom, are full of goodness, and available to help others apply divine truth to their lives (Rom. 15:14).

When people come to you for counsel, the best thing you can do is show them what God's Word says about their problem and how it applies to their situation. But you can't do that unless you know the Word and are allowing it to do its work in you first. Then you'll be in a position to counsel others more effectively.

The Solitariness of God: how He can be known

Nor is the testimony of the New Testament any different from that of the Old: how could it be, seeing that both have one and the same Author! There too we read, 

"Which in His times He shall show, who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords: Who only bath immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto; whom no man bath seen, nor can see: to whom be honour and power everlasting, Amen" (1 Tim. 6:16). 

Such an One is to be revered, worshipped, adored. He is solitary in His majesty, unique in His excellency, peerless in His perfections. He sustains all, but is Himself independent of all. He gives to all, but is enriched by none.

Such a God cannot be found out by searching; He can be known, only as He is revealed to the heart by the Holy Spirit through the Word. It is true that creation demonstrates a Creator, and that, so plainly, men are "without excuse;" yet, we still have to say with Job, "Lo, these are parts of His ways: but how little a portion is heard of Him? but the thunder of His power who can understand?" (26:14). The so-called argument from design by well-meaning "Apologists" has, we believe, done much more harm than good, for it has attempted to bring down the great God to the level of finite comprehension, and thereby has lost sight of His solitary excellence.

Analogy has been drawn between a savage finding a watch upon the sands, and from a close examination of it he infers a watch-maker. So far so good. But attempt to go further: suppose that savage sits down on the sand and endeavors to form to himself a conception of this watch-maker, his personal affections and manners; his disposition, acquirements, and moral character—all that goes to make up a personality; could he ever think or reason out a real man—the man who made the watch, so that he could say, "I am acquainted with him?" It seems trifling to ask such questions, but is the eternal and infinite God so much more within the grasp of human reason? No, indeed! The God of Scripture can only be known by those to whom He makes Himself known.

Nor is God known by the intellect. "God is Spirit" (John 4:24), and therefore can only be known spiritually. But fallen man is not spiritual, he is carnal. He is dead to all that is spiritual. Unless he is born again supernaturally brought from death unto life, miraculously translated out of darkness into light, he cannot even see the things of God (John 3:3), still less apprehend them (1 Cor. 2:14). The Holy Spirit has to shine in our hearts (not intellects) in order to give us "the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ" (2 Cor. 4:6). And even that spiritual knowledge is but fragmentary. The regenerated soul has to grow in grace and in the knowledge of the Lord Jesus (2 Pet. 3.18).

The Solitariness of God: God Did Not Need To Create Man or Angels To Glorify Him, for He is Sufficient In and Of Himself

                     

Comparatively few of those who occasionally read the Bible are aware of the awe-inspiring and worship-provoking grandeur of the Divine character. That God is great in wisdom, wondrous in power, yet full of mercy, is assumed by many to be almost common knowledge; but, to entertain anything approaching an adequate conception of His being, His nature, His attributes, as these are revealed in Holy Scripture, is something which very, very few people in these degenerate times have attained unto. God is solitary in His excellency. "Who is like unto Thee, O Lord, among the gods? Who is like Thee, glorious in holiness, fearful in praises, doing wonders?" (Ex. 15:11).

"In the beginning, God" (Gen. 1:1). There was a time, if "time" is could be called, when God, in the unity of His nature (though subsisting equally in three Divine Persons), dwelt all alone. "In the beginning, God." There was no heaven, where His glory is now particularly manifested. There was no earth to engage His attention. There were no angels to hymn His praises; no universe to be upheld by the word of His power. There was nothing, no one, but God; and that, not for a day, a year, or an age, but "from everlasting." During a past eternity, God was alone: self-contained, self-sufficient, self-satisfied; in need of nothing. Had a universe, had angels, had human beings been necessary to Him in any way, they also had been called into existence from all eternity. The creating of them when He did, added nothing to God essentially. He changes not (Mal. 3:6), therefore His essential glory can be neither augmented nor diminished.

God was under no constraint, no obligation, no necessity to create. That He chose to do so was purely a sovereign act on His part, caused by nothing outside Himself, determined by nothing but His own mere good pleasure; for He "worketh all things after the counsel of His own will" (Eph. 1:11). That He did create was simply for His manifestative glory. Do some of our readers imagine that we have gone beyond what Scripture warrants? Then our appeal shall be to the Law and the Testimony: "Stand up and bless the Lord your God forever and ever: and blessed be Thy glorious name, which is exalted above all blessing and praise" (Neh. 9:5). God is no gainer even from our worship. He was in no need of that external glory of His grace which arises from His redeemed, for He is glorious enough in Himself without that. What was it moved Him to predestinate His elect to the praise of the glory of His grace? It was, as Ephesians 1:5 tells us, according to the good pleasure of His will.

Nay, we go further: our Lord Jesus Christ added nothing to God in His essential being and glory, either by what He did or suffered. True, blessedly and gloriously true, He manifested the glory of God to us, but He added nought to God.

It is perfectly true that God is both honored and dishonored by men; not in His essential being, but in His official character. It is equally true that God has been "glorified" by creation, by providence, and by redemption. This we do not and dare not dispute for a moment. But all of this has to do with His manifestative glory and the recognition of it by us. Yet had God so pleased He might have continued alone for all eternity, without making known His glory unto creatures. Whether He should do so or not was determined solely by His own will. He was perfectly blessed in Himself before the first creature was called into being. And what are all the creatures of His hands unto Him even now? Let Scripture again make answer: "Behold, the nations are as a drop of a bucket, and are counted as the small dust of the balance: behold, He taketh up the isles as a very little thing. And Lebanon is not sufficient to burn, nor the beasts thereof sufficient for a burnt offering. All nations before Him are as nothing; and they are counted to Him less than nothing, and vanity. To whom then will ye liken God? or what likeness will ye compare unto Him?" (Isa. 40:15-18). That is the God of Scripture; alas, He is still "the unknown God" (Acts 17:23) to the heedless multitudes. "It is He that sitteth upon the circle of the earth, and the inhabitants thereof are as grasshoppers; that stretcheth out the heavens as a curtain, and spreadeth them out as a tent to dwell in: that bringeth the princes to nothing; He maketh the judges of the earth as vanity" (Isa. 40:22,23). How vastly different is the God of Scripture from the god of the average pulpit!

I find this helpful because so many parrot a modern notion that God is somehow needy of relationship; lonely and thus created Adam. This is untrue. It is yet again, a man-centered notion that glorifies Man and de-glorifies God. Such notions make a god that is just like them, rather than the biblical God who is set apart from all creation--distinct from and above it all. 

Isa 46:5  "To whom would you liken Me And make Me equal and compare Me, That we would be alike? 

Isa 40:17  All the nations are as nothing before Him, They are regarded by Him as less than nothing and meaningless. 18  To whom then will you liken God? Or what likeness will you compare with Him? 

A Call to God For His Justice

Psa 9:19  Arise, O LORD, do not let man prevail; Let the nations be judged before You. 20  Put them in fear, O LORD; Let the nations know that they are but men. Selah.

"Lord": what it means and implies

“Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.” (2 Timothy 2:19)

The title “Lord,” when applied to Christ, is not merely a title of respect but an acknowledgment of relationship. We belong to Him, just as bondservants (slaves) belong to their owners. He owns us, having bought (i.e., “redeemed”) us with His blood....

Thus, whenever “Lord” is attached to His name, there is an implied confession of His Lordship in that particular area of life.....

Even in the mundane affairs of life, He is our Lord...

Obedience to the Lordship of Christ is, of course, absolutely essential for a truly Christian and happy family....

As our text reminds us, Christ’s Lordship implies holiness and full submission to Him.

A Right View of Sin

True confession involves a proper understanding of sin.

                      



King David was a man after God’s own heart (1 Sam. 13:14). He was far from perfect, however. He was not an effective father (1 Kings 1:5-6), nor did he always trust God (1 Sam. 21:10—22:1). But by far his greatest failings were his horrible sins of adultery with Bathsheba and the subsequent murder of her husband (2 Sam. 11—12). After Nathan the prophet confronted him with his sin, David poured out his heart in confession to God. During the next three days, we will learn from that prayer (Ps. 51) some key marks of true confession. Confession, first of all, involves a right view of sin. In Psalm 51 David summarized the biblical view of sin. 

First, sin deserves judgment. In verse 1 David pleaded, “Be gracious to me, O God, according to Thy lovingkindness; according to the greatness of Thy compassion blot out my transgressions.” True confession must begin with an admission of guilt.

Second, sin demands cleansing. In verse 2 David asked God to cleanse him from the guilt of his sin. Since God’s “eyes are too pure to approve evil” and He cannot “look on wickedness with favor” (Hab. 1:13), only those cleansed from their sins can enter His presence. True confession acknowledges the defilement sin causes, and it pleads for God’s cleansing (1 John 1:7, 9).

Third, sin is our responsibility. Unlike Adam (Gen. 3:12) and Eve (Gen. 3:13), David accepted full responsibility for his sin. In verses 1 and 3 he referred to his sins as “my transgressions.” True confession does not blame others for sin.

Fourth, all sin is ultimately against God. David admitted that when he said to God, “Against Thee, Thee only, I have sinned” (v. 4). True confession recognizes God as the supreme Lawgiver.

Fifth, sin is part of human nature. “Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity,” David acknowledged in verse 5, “and in sin my mother conceived me.” David accepted the biblical teaching of total depravity—that all men inherit Adam’s sin (Rom. 5:12). True confession looks inward for the cause of sin, not to external factors.

UNBELIEVABLE! Illegal Aliens (law breakers) Can Now Practice Law in California

The California Supreme Court, which finalizes requests of applicants to be licensed as a lawyer in California, is now authorized to approve qualified applicants regardless of their immigration status.

The California law that allows illegal immigrants to practice law grew out of a case of an undocumented Mexican immigrant, Sergio Garcia, who was brought to the United States as a baby and later graduated from a California law school. He has received the support of the State Bar of California and the state attorney general.

Pray that your eyes may be opened, that you may receive sight, that you may know yourself, and be brought to God’s footstool; and that you may see the glory of God and Christ, and may be raised from the dead, and have the love of Christ shed abroad in your heart. Those who have most of these things, have need still to pray for them; for there is so much blindness and hardness, pride and death remaining, that they still need to have that work of God wrought upon them, further to enlighten and enliven them, that shall be bringing them out of darkness into God’s marvelous light, and be a kind of new conversion and resurrection from the dead. There are very few requests that are proper for an impenitent man, that are not also, in some sense, proper for the godly.

When you hear a sermon, hear for yourself. Though what is spoken may be more especially directed to the unconverted, or to those that, in other respects, are in different circumstances from yourself; yet, let the chief intent of your mind be to consider, "In what respect is this applicable to me? and what improvement ought I to make of this, for my own soul’s good?"

Apparently even Bob Schieffer of CBS News sees this:

"“Whenever I’m asked what is the most manipulative and secretive administration I’ve covered, I always say it’s the one in office now,” Bob Schieffer, CBS News anchor and chief Washington correspondent, told me. “Every administration learns from the previous administration. They become more secretive and put tighter clamps on information." 

Then Hot Air notes:

"Does it even occur to Downie that Obama’s claim to deliver “the most transparent administration ever” (not just incrementally more transparent than before) was simply a load of hogwash? Apparently not — because if Downie and the rest of the Obama-fawning media had to acknowledge that possibility, then they would have to ask themselves why Obama would deliberately set out to make his administration the least transparent ever, as Schieffer acknowledges."

Does God Declare Peace to All People?

Recently, infamous “pastor” and author, Joel Osteen, declared God’s peace on everyone (“he likes you, he accepts you, he approves of you”) including homosexuals. 

At Christmas time we so often hear part of Luke 2:14 proclaimed, but not the entire verse and context, thus everyone presumes that God’s peace is bestowed upon all people, without qualification.

What does Scripture say about peace? Who gets it? Everyone? Do we declare God is at peace with everyone? Does God bestow peace on all people? Is there no warring parties between the two that must be reconciled?

Jesus Christ is the Prince of Peace. It’s His to give or to withhold.  His Gospel is the Gospel of peace.

Isa 9:6  For a child will be born to us, a son will be given to us; And the government will rest on His shoulders; And His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace.

Eph 6:15  and having shod YOUR FEET WITH THE PREPARATION OF THE GOSPEL OF PEACE;

Eph. 6:15 is a quote from Isa 52:7  How lovely on the mountains Are the feet of him who brings good news, Who announces peace And brings good news of happiness, Who announces salvation, And says to Zion, "Your God reigns!"

And one of the most used verses in Scripture to say God offers peace to all men:

Luk 2:14  "Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace among men with whom He is pleased."

With whom is the Father truly pleased?

Mat 3:17  and behold, a voice out of the heavens said, "This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well-pleased."

This is crucial to understand. The ONLY one with whom the Father is absolutely and thoroughly well-pleased in and of Himself is God the Son, Who is perfect in all ways and never did nor could sin because of His absolute deity and holiness. From Adam, on, God has been displeased with all men (remember the Flood?). Moreover there has be war between Him and man since then. There is hostility between these two parties that requires reconciliation. It is because of this hostility of all unbelievers toward God that necessitates the absolute need for reconciliation on our part toward God if we’re to ever be saved and go to Heaven. God has no warring parties, no rebels, in His kingdom.

Col 1:20  and through Him to reconcile all things to Himself, having made peace through the blood of His cross; through Him, I say, whether things on earth or things in heaven. Col 1:21  And although you were formerly alienated and hostile in mind, engaged in evil deeds, 22  yet He has now reconciled you in His fleshly body through death, in order to present you before Him holy and blameless and beyond reproach--

Rom 5:1  Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, 2  through whom also we have obtained our introduction by faith into this grace in which we stand; and we exult in hope of the glory of God.

Rom 8:6  For the mind set on the flesh is death, but the mind set on the Spirit is life and peace, 7  because the mind set on the flesh is hostile toward God; for it does not subject itself to the law of God, for it is not even able to do so, 8  and those who are in the flesh cannot please God.

If we are in Christ, who is our peace, we are now at peace with God the Father.

So look a little closer to the famous declaration of peace we so often hear at Christmastime.

John MacArthur notes on this verse of Luke:

2:14 the highest. I.e., heaven. peace. This is not to be taken as a universal declaration of peace toward all humanity. Rather, peace with God is a corollary of justification (see note on Rom. 5:1). goodwill toward men. Note the marginal rendering. The Gr. word for "goodwill" is also used in 10:21. The verb form of the same word is used in 3:22; 12:32. In each case, it refers to God’s sovereign good pleasure. So a better rendering here might be "peace toward men on whom God’s sovereign pleasure rests." God’s peace is not a reward for those who have good will, but a gracious gift to those who are the objects of His good will.

He further states in a sermon on this passage:

The adoration of the angels over the good news of the Savior's birth. This is pure, perfect, holy praise given to God alone because He is supremely worthy because He has sent Jesus to save sinners. He has sent Jesus to bring peace among men on earth. In the highest place, glory to God. In the lowest place, salvation to sinners.

And then verse 14 ends with an interesting statement, "With whom He is pleased." That can be very misleading...very misleading if you're not careful. It sounds like He's going to give salvation to those who earn it...to those who earn it. The King James Bible says, "On earth peace, good will toward men." That also sounds like God is going to bring peace and good will toward those who earn it, those who deserve it.

But the Greek literally says, "Men of His good pleasure...Men of His good pleasure." It's a genitive. There's an alternative reading here but the best reading would be "Peace among men of His good pleasure." Or to put it another way, "Peace among men of His good will." It's not...it's not men who have earned it. It's God who has given it because it's His pleasure to give it.

Salvation peace belongs to those whom God is pleased to give it to. That's what it's saying. It's the same words in chapter 3 verse 22, for the Father says about the Son at His baptism, "You're My beloved Son in whom I am well pleased."

There are some in whom God chooses, in whom He wills salvation. It's not the result of what good men have done. Angels are not rejoicing and glorifying God for what men have done or will do. Angels are not rejoicing that some men will merit salvation. They're glorifying God because though none can merit salvation, God is pleased to give it by His own good pleasure. And there will be salvation peace among men of His good pleasure.

If you are a person who has been given the gift of salvation, you are a person of His good pleasure. It's incredible, incredible truth. Men to whom He extends His good pleasure. He gets all the credit. He gets all the glory. We couldn't devise a plan of salvation. We couldn't earn a plan...we couldn't earn salvation so if we're saved it's because God designed it and God was pleased to give it.

Saying it another way, there is salvation peace, peace between man and God, among those whom God has chosen to delight in. And so the angels are praising God because He has chosen to delight in bringing salvation peace to sinners.

End quote.

So, do we declare God’s peace to everyone?  Is God actually at peace with all men, accepting them, approving of them, and liking them, as Osteen declares? 

MacArthur clearly shows from Scripture God is not at peace with all men based on Luke 2:14, but there are more passages of Scripture.

Jer 23:16  Thus says the LORD of hosts, "Do not listen to the words of the prophets who are prophesying to you. They are leading you into futility; They speak a vision of their own imagination, Not from the mouth of the LORD. 17  "They keep saying to those who despise Me, 'The LORD has said, "You will have peace"'; And as for everyone who walks in the stubbornness of his own heart, They say, 'Calamity will not come upon you.'

Mat 10:11  "And whatever city or village you enter, inquire who is worthy in it, and stay at his house until you leave that city. 12  "As you enter the house, give it your greeting. 13  "If the house is worthy, give it your blessing of peace. But if it is not worthy, take back your blessing of peace. 14  "Whoever does not receive you, nor heed your words, as you go out of that house or that city, shake the dust off your feet. 15  "Truly I say to you, it will be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrah in the day of judgment than for that city.

2Jn 1:9  Anyone who goes too far and does not abide in the teaching of Christ, does not have God; the one who abides in the teaching, he has both the Father and the Son. 10  If anyone comes to you and does not bring this teaching, do not receive him into your house, and do not give him a greeting; 11  for the one who gives him a greeting participates in his evil deeds.

Scripture is clear that God’s peace is not granted nor indiscriminately given to all mankind, because all men are at war with God. Not all are chosen to be His children; most are to remain His enemy. Hell demonstrates that God is not at peace with all people.

If God does not indiscriminately grant peace to all people, then Christians shouldn’t either. At best it softens the horrible and doubly sharp sword of Truth that convicts men of their multiple offenses against the thrice holy God of Scripture. It’s to lie about the real relationship between God and man.  The only peace one has with God is found solely in the Person and work of the risen Lord Jesus Christ.

Outside of Christ we are at war with God and He with us.

Inside of Christ we are at peace with God and He is pleased with us because of Christ and His righteousness (justification).

To lie to an enemy and tell them “Peace, peace!” when there is no peace, while guns are pointed in  his direction, is deceiving. Spiritually speaking, to tell the enemy of God "Peace, peace! There is no calamity that will befall you!"  it is to hate their souls and hate God. It is to lie about the holiness of God, His demand for holiness, our inability of any righteousness, and our doom if we do not humbly repent of all of our sins and turn to Christ alone for salvation, knowing there’s nothing good in us at all.

Such liars are condemned by God. They themselves war against the Word and God Himself, as did the Serpent in the Garden ("Did God really say you would die? You will not die!") and He will judge them accordingly. 

Heb 10:31  It is a terrifying thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

The simplest verse to counter the Me-ism called psychology is John 3:30.

It destroys all claims to self-rights and gives humility before the King of kings and Lord of lords.

It destroys all idols both physical (like in pagan cultures) and in the heart where other things or people compete with Christ in one's life.
