The Downgrade of Cedarville

http://vimeo.com/1989393 for the powerful video of the downgrade of Cedarville in recent years. This is happening across our country people....the departing from Truth within "solid" and "evangelical" "Christianity". Its worth watching with your FULL attention. I'm seeing this same thing happening within churches. It deals with HOW it begins---doubting God's Word, and being open to philosophies like Post Modernism and shutting the doors on the noses of those who keep to Scripture and HIS Truth above all things.

This is happening in churches, not just colleges.

After viewing the video go here for the downgrade of academia in Spurgeon's day.

It is not just Cedarville, but schools everywhere. Quachita Baptist in AR received $2,953,300 from the ABSC in 07'. It also had Bill Clinton speak to the students during his wifes run for president. Many SBC pastors in AR called the school to register a complaint and were told it didn't matter what we thought. So we called the ABSC (Arkansas Baptist State Convention) and were told about the same thing. I could list more things but this is your blog. My point is these schools seem to be able to do what ever they want and we have no voice to stop it.

Harold,

Yes, that's why I think its wrong to have these "parachurch" organizations. They have no accountability except to the Yes Men on their board, who are interested in the financial viability of the school, not the theological/spiritual well being. Truth is not held at any cost. The cost is far more the consideration.

Sadly, these schools have far more influence than the local church, which not only isn't biblical, but is dangerous.

What a mess.

Thanks for coming by. I think I see you over at A Little Leaven---I enjoy that site and many of the comments there. =)

All of this is opinion, none of which is backed up with Scripture or truth. Perhaps it would be a better use of your time to start building other Christians up, rather than tearing down institutions with your limited, biased second-hand knowledge.

Sarah, thanks for your edifying, factual, and biblically-based commentary. I'm glad you live up to the standard by which you hold me.

You clearly don’t understand the issue here. Scripture puts spiritual issues within the local churches.

There is no such thing as a seminary in Scripture, so circling the wagons won’t work here Sarah.

Church discipline occurs within the local church. “Church” is defined as a local assembly called together out of the world, to meet together for the teaching of the apostles’ doctrine, breaking of bread together, baptizing new believers, communion, and ministry and training up of elders: all of which comprise the worship of God. This is done under the headship of elders. For the function of the local church and leadership within them see: 1Peter 5:1-3; 1Thes. 5:12; 3John 5-8; Heb. 10:25; Heb. 13:7,17; Titus 1,5; Matt. 18:15-17; 1Cor. 5:1-13; Acts 2; 20:28; 1Tim. 3; Titus 1-2; James 5:14.

This does not include presidents, deans, nor professors of schools.

In addition, seminaries must be able to stay afloat financially, which necessitates a large base of income. Plus seminaries teach people to read and consider error, which is not of the Truth. Phil.4:8, Eph.4:17-23, Rom. 12:2, 1Tim. 4:7; 1Cor. 1-2;1Tim. 6:20-21; 2Cor. 10:5; 1John 2:21.

Sarah did you watch the whole video? What Cedarville has done is against Scripture. Where’s your bias for Truth? When instutitions or teachers are in error, they are to be called on it, not defended or ignored. Your response is precisely the problem with “Christianity” these days---you judge those who love God and Truth for being unedifying and tearing down, while you yourself, aren’t edifying. How is promoting the Emergent Church Movement defendable? Or are you unaware of what this movement teaches?
Here are some additional verses for you to consider:
Mat 7:5 You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and THEN you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother's eye.
2Tim. 4: 14 Alexander the metalworker did me a great deal of harm. The Lord will repay him for what he has done. 15 You too should be on your guard against him, because he strongly opposed our message.
3 John 9 I wrote to the church, but Diotrephes, who loves to be first, will have nothing to do with us. 10 So if I come, I will call attention to what he is doing, gossiping maliciously about us. Not satisfied with that, he refuses to welcome the brothers. He also stops those who want to do so and puts them out of the church. 3John 11 Dear friend, do not imitate what is evil but what is good.
2 Tim. 2: 16 Avoid godless chatter, because those who indulge in it will become more and more ungodly.17 Their teaching will spread like gangrene. Among them are Hymenaeus and Philetus, 18 who have wandered away from the truth. They say that the resurrection has already taken place, and they destroy the faith of some.

Denise,
If you wish to read a bit on how backwards our Bible schools and seminaries work, I wrote a piece concerning how good students are filtered out by our schools, leaving only those who care little about holiness.
