Why do "Christians" find "truth" in heretical teaching and promote the reading of such accursed things? Rom 12:9 "Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor what is evil; cling to what is good." A truth plus a lie is a lie. "No lie is of the truth" John said. The Tree of the knowledge of Good and Evil had nothing to offer but DEATH, yet today people still argue with God and say "YES IT DOES!".
Here is an example from Facebook:
I said:
"Good example of why not to read Bell. If one thinks there is truth in everything, they will not separate from such a heretic--in fact they won't find a heretic anywhere. Instead Bell is a "brother". We have to take heed of what we hear AND ...read, as Pink said. It matters what we think on."
The response of another commenter named Justin:
"But i do think it is good to read Rob Bell. It is good to know what others are saying and what they believe. It is not what goes in to the body that defiles it but what comes out. We are to be discerning about ALL things test them with the Word of God and keep what is good. But i do think it is very helpful to read others we do not agree with to help us understand where they are coming from. And although i do disagree with Bell, he does say some good things. I think we are not to run but read and test these things to help understand what they are saying as well as being critical with their material."
1Th 5:21 But examine everything carefully; hold fast to that which is good; 22 abstain from every form of evil. This means test everything, hold to that which PASSES the test of Scripture and reject that which doesn't which will come in various forms. Seems people think it means dumpster diving and finding something good to eat in the decaying and rotten food. That's NOT what Scripture says.
