Excerpts from the Religion blog over at CNN:
DeMoss developed an appreciation for Mormons from a somewhat unlikely source: the evangelical giant Jerry Falwell.
For DeMoss, who is officially a senior adviser to the Romney campaign, the stakes of his work go well beyond electoral politics. He’s trying to open the American evangelical mind.
“I took this on to tackle prejudicial attitudes,” DeMoss says, explaining how he approached Romney about running for president in 2006, convinced that the then-Massachusetts governor was the most qualified man for the presidency that he’d ever seen.
“It bothered me that some evangelicals said they couldn’t support a Mormon for president. As a public relations guy, I wanted to change that mindset.”
“My wife and I have been married for 24 years,” DeMoss said, “and I don’t agree with her on everything.”
Looking professorial in tortoiseshell glasses, a blue blazer and a white polo shirt tucked into khakis, DeMoss never mentioned religion or Romney’s Mormonism.
But you could tell it was a big part of what he was talking about.
It’s why he told the delegation that he has prayed with Mitt Romney and shared scripture with him and has even sought parenting advice from Romney and his wife, Ann.
“A lot of people forget this or didn’t know it to begin with, but the Moral Majority was a coalition of evangelicals, Catholics, Jews and Mormons,” DeMoss says. “It was not an evangelical organization.”
April, his wife, who’s checking her iPhone on the bed of DeMoss’ hotel room, says they’ve lost a few friends over Romney, too. But they’ve also made new Mormons friends, and have developed a deep appreciation for the Mormon faith.

Contrast that with:
In the end, conservatives have failed. The entire conservative movement has been an utter failure, and they need to admit it. The reason for this is that they have proved themselves to be unprincipled. A conservative walks into a restaurant and orders a little less than what ever the liberal is having. The cook always gives him more. Always. At root, conservatives are not solid people. They have no principled foundation. They are not interested in true repentance. And, they certainly aren’t willing to pledge their lives, their fortunes, and their sacred honor for the cause of any principle. So, they will lose. ~Kevin Swanson

Here, Jerry Johnson addresses the often-heard opposition to not voting for Romney:
“Show me in the Bible”, he wrote, “where I have to cast my vote for a Christian.”
Okay, here is my answer. Most Bible believing protestant churches have congregational meetings when voting for a minister to fill the pulpit. Do you think God cares what the potential ministerial candidate believes? To ask it another way, is it the responsibility of the congregation to make sure that the man they are considering to fill the pulpit has a valid profession of faith and embraces Biblical orthodoxy?
I’m just guessing here, but I believe every Christian would answer yes, of course. That’s a no-brainer.
In Romans 13 verses 3 and 4, Paul identifies civil rulers as ministers of God. And since we have the responsibility to make sure the pulpit minister is a Bible believing orthodox Christian, why would we and why should we settle for anything less when it comes to the civil minister?
Matthew Poole notes on this passage, “That is the end of his office, and for this reason God hath invested him with his authority. The Scripture applieth the same title to him that preacheth the word, and to him that beareth the sword; both are God’s ministers, and there is one common end of their ministry, which is the good and welfare of mankind.”
Let me pause here to ask you another question. Do you think the Apostle Paul would have campaigned for and supported, for the office of civil magistrate, one of the Judiazers whom he had just leveled an anathema against?
Now a lot of folks may object here, falling headlong into a sea of rationalism by responding, “Jerry, we could never get a Bible believing Christian elected.”
Well, my friends, with men this is impossible, but with God, all things are possible. It may not happen overnight. It may take some time. But perhaps if we do not compromise our stated beliefs, then those beliefs may eventually become the majority report.
Tricia Erickson, who grew up in the LDS for 21 years, including getting married in the temple, has written on this issue ("Can Mitt Romney Serve Two Masters? The Mormon Church Versus the Office of the Presidency of the United States of America") and says in this article:
Quote:
Quote:
“To me, as a conservative, a Republican and a Christian, I cannot justify a vote for either one of the Obamney baby-killing, annihilators of the family, government healthcare mandated to take over our economy socialist evil twins – and be right with our Creator,” she wrote.
Erickson pointed out that neither seek to ban abortion, and both have shown support for homosexuality.
“Republicans say that they have to vote for Romney because we are losing our country to socialism and after another four years of Obama, there will be nothing left of America. I can’t say that I disagree,” she said. “However, what is never talked about is that Romney has his own goals for the Mormon Church [and] The Mormon Plan for America, and while he is cunning and a good debater, he lacks the judgment to discern that he will not become a ‘god’ in his next life and receive his own planet.”
“It’s like our eyes are glazed over when it comes to the religion of Mitt Romney,” Erickson told talk show host Thomas Hartmann in further discussing the matter. “If you just knew what Mitt Romney believed, you would run far away from this candidate.”
“[The LDS establishment has] been trying since the beginning to get someone in the presidency, because they believe they have to establish their authority so when Jesus comes to earth, the Mormon Church will take control of the government and the Mormons will be the government of God on earth,” Erickson explained.
End quote.
The article also states:
The article also states:
“From its very beginning, the Mormon plan for America has been to have a Mormon president lead this nation and ultimately the world,” they stated. “The so-called ‘White Horse Prophecy’ of Joseph Smith has been referred to often as a destiny of the Mormon priesthood in saving the United States. This ‘prophecy’ predicts that U.S. government will one day hang as if by a single thread and Mormon elders will step in and save it.”
You can't understand this and then say this election has NOTHING to do with religion.
"Christians" can divorce their faith from this election, but Romney can't his, nor will he want to. And apparently "Christians" don't give a rip about what Mormons believe. They just fear Obama more than anything literally, in this world or in Heaven for that matter. They want to go to Egypt. Egypt they shall have.
Mormons are more consistent and faithful to their religion than "Christians" are to the risen Lord Jesus Christ whom they claim they trust in for salvation. Apparently He's not good enough to trust this election and our country's leadership with.

2Co 6:14 Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers. For what partnership has righteousness with lawlessness? Or what fellowship has light with darkness?
2Co 6:15 What accord has Christ with Belial? Or what portion does a believer share with an unbeliever?
2Co 6:16 What agreement has the temple of God with idols? For we are the temple of the living God; as God said, "I will make my dwelling among them and walk among them, and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.
2Co 6:17 Therefore go out from their midst, and be separate from them, says the Lord, and touch no unclean thing; then I will welcome you,
2Co 6:18 and I will be a father to you, and you shall be sons and daughters to me, says the Lord Almighty."
2Jn 1:7 For many deceivers have gone out into the world, those who do not confess the coming of Jesus Christ in the flesh. Such a one is the deceiver and the antichrist.
2Jn 1:8 Watch yourselves, so that you may not lose what we have worked for, but may win a full reward.
2Jn 1:9 Everyone who goes on ahead and does not abide in the teaching of Christ, does not have God. Whoever abides in the teaching has both the Father and the Son.
2Jn 1:10 If anyone comes to you and does not bring this teaching, do not receive him into your house or give him any greeting, 11 for whoever greets him takes part in his wicked works.
Fear God.
Vote biblically.
Don't compromise.
