Today's Christian Is No Different Than Yesterday's Wicked Israel

Religious works while motivated by selfishness is sin. What is true of Israel in this chapter is absolutely true of most professing Christians today.
"Good enough" isn't good enough to God. Claims to "delight in God", claims of humility and to seek Him daily is basically a lie because at the SAME TIME they have a disdain for worshiping God HIS way on HIS terms for HIS glory. Today's "Christians" are largely Pharisees, then, because they seek their own glory, they seek the world's approval, and  they seek to obligate God, and they seek to worship God in their own way, by doing a bunch of "good" works (social justice). Yet at the same time their hearts are far from God for they have not received a love for the truth and so be saved.

Isa 58:1 "Cry aloud; do not hold back; lift up your voice like a trumpet; declare to my people their transgression, to the house of Jacob their sins.
Isa 58:2 Yet they seek me daily and delight to know my ways, as if they were a nation that did righteousness and did not forsake the judgment of their God; they ask of me righteous judgments; they delight to draw near to God.
Isa 58:3 'Why have we fasted, and you see it not? Why have we humbled ourselves, and you take no knowledge of it?' Behold, in the day of your fast you seek your own pleasure, and oppress all your workers.
Isa 58:4 Behold, you fast only to quarrel and to fight and to hit with a wicked fist. Fasting like yours this day will not make your voice to be heard on high.

These people who fast and claim to delight in God's commands are the VERY ONES who are spiritual whores and selfish rebels:

Isa 57:3 But you, draw near, sons of the sorceress, offspring of the adulterer and the loose woman.
Isa 57:4 Whom are you mocking? Against whom do you open your mouth wide and stick out your tongue? Are you not children of transgression, the offspring of deceit,
Isa 57:5 you who burn with lust among the oaks, under every green tree, who slaughter your children in the valleys, under the clefts of the rocks?

Jas 4:1  What causes quarrels and what causes fights among you? Is it not this, that your passions are at war within you?
Jas 4:2  You desire and do not have, so you murder. You covet and cannot obtain, so you fight and quarrel. You do not have, because you do not ask.
Jas 4:3  You ask and do not receive, because you ask wrongly, to spend it on your passions.
Jas 4:4  You adulterous people! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Therefore whoever wishes to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.
Jas 4:5  Or do you suppose it is to no purpose that the Scripture says, "He yearns jealously over the spirit that he has made to dwell in us"?
Jas 4:6  But he gives more grace. Therefore it says, "God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble."

Joh 4:24  God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth."
