The Return of Mark Driscoll

Last October (2014) I predicted Mark Driscoll would make a come back after his firing from Mars Hill and self-implosion.

It has happened.

Thrive Conference 2015 was the venue.

Thrive? No, unholy, deadly treason, poisonous, uselessness is really what that conference was about. Men circling the wagon. The Good Ole Boy's Club, where impurity, twisting of Scripture, lies, plagiarism, bullying of dissenting elders, vicious slandering of Christ Jesus is not to keep one from taking to the stage again much less lead!

1Ti 3:2  Therefore an overseer must be above reproach, the husband of one wife, sober-minded, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach, 
1Ti 3:3  not a drunkard, not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money.
1Ti 3:4  He must manage his own household well, with all dignity keeping his children submissive,
1Ti 3:5  for if someone does not know how to manage his own household, how will he care for God's church?
1Ti 3:6  He must not be a recent convert, or he may become puffed up with conceit and fall into the condemnation of the devil.
1Ti 3:7  Moreover, he must be well thought of by outsiders, so that he may not fall into disgrace, into a snare of the devil.

1Pe 5:2  shepherd the flock of God that is among you, exercising oversight, not under compulsion, but willingly, as God would have you; not for shameful gain, but eagerly;

1Pe 5:3  not domineering over those in your charge, but being examples to the flock.

Remember the serious problems here that his own old church charged against him. Yet even they refused Scripture's demand of being above reproach and not domineering. That's not taking into account his lack of repentance, his lying about his book and it's "NYT top seller" status, his plagiarism, and his sex obssession.

Because this man is a false teacher, embodying Jude's very description of such shepherds, I believe we'll see more impurity, more unholiness, and more disgrace. Without the Holy Spirit working in a regenerated heart, a form of godliness is just that--a form, an appearance--without power to restrain heart, mind, and behavior. Stand by.
