Redefining words as Rob Bell apparently does in his new book inappropriately called "Love Wins" (true agape hates evil and the wicked and rejoices with the Truth---his notion of love is really tolerance of all manner of falsehood), shows his unbelief in Scripture.
The fact that Christians are having to fight for the truth of the biblical Hell and biblical eternal punishment is unbelievable, but that's where the battle rages the most these days.
As reported by Apprising Ministries in a review by the Tenth Leper:

That’s why I’m glad I sat down to read this book for myself, because Bell doesn’t really seek to say “This isn’t in the Bible” as much as he does “That’s not actually what the Bible is saying here.” “Do I believe in a literal hell?” he asks. “Of course.” (p.72) So it’s perhaps not the best route to rebuke Bell’s argument by pointing to places in Scripture that talk about Hell as a real place. Nor is it as simple as quoting Matthew 25:46 which says that those who do evil go off to “eternal punishment.” He’s ready for that.

The definition of “eternal” in Matthew 25:46 (which I’ll devote a whole entry to) is probably the most blunt thing I remember reading in Love Wins. As I said, he doesn’t ever say “Hell isn’t real.” He just challenges what we mean by it. He’s too smart to be overly blunt throughout most of the book. But he makes no apology for his declaration that while Hell is a real place, and people will go there, it’s not forever. Ultimately, God’s love will prevail for every person and they will be restored.

Many things are wrong with both Bell and Leper's views.
Scripture clearly and simply states eternal punishment is just that: punishment for eternity. Its so simple a child can easily understand it, and many do. Too bad adult "Christians" can't.
There's no semantic games here, no mysterious parable to uncover, no deeper hidden truth here. God made eternal death and eternal life understandable for those who actually believe what He said.
Eternal punishment:
Matt. 25: 41 “Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels.
2 Thes. 1: 8 In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: 9 Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of His power
Rev 14:11 And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up forever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name.
Rev 20:10 And the devil who deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are also; and they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.
When Christians talk about eternity in Hell we mean eternal punishment. Technically Hell will be thrown into the Lake of Fire to burn forever. We know what we mean, though. So, to be clear, Eternal Punishment is what I'll use for this article.
Why is Eternal Punishment eternal? Well, why is Eternal life eternal?
Christians go to heaven b/c they have placed their trust and faith fully in the Person and work of the Lord Jesus Christ. This faith will turn to reality--to what we see---when we enter Heaven. We will live in a state of belief for we shall see Him as He is, worshipping Jesus Christ the risen Master/Owner for ever and ever (Eph. 1). Correction is NOT punishment as Bell and Tenth Leper claim. Rather, Rom 8:1 Therefore there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.
Furthermore discpline is a different word:
Heb 12:7 It is for discipline that you endure; God deals with you as with sons; for what son is there whom his father does not discipline? 8 But if you are without discipline, of which all have become partakers, then you are illegitimate children and not sons.

Hebrews 12 is clearly making a distinction between those who are save and thus being conformed to the image of Christ Jesus (see also Rom. 8:28-30) and those who are not. Unbelievers are condemned and punished, believers are no longer condemned since Jesus took their punishment fully, but rather conformed to the image of God's dear Son through discipline or training. Totally different. Bell calls himself a pastor but can't see this clear distinction?
In Mat 25:46 "These will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life" "punishment" is "kolasis" which means penal inflicktion, punishmen, torment. Different word for a different reason: these are the people for whom Jesus DID NOT DIE FOR.

1Jn 4:2 By this you know the Spirit of God: every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God; 3 and every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God; this is the spirit of the antichrist, of which you have heard that it is coming, and now it is already in the world. 4 You are from God, little children, and have overcome them; because greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world. 5 They are from the world; therefore they speak as from the world, and the world listens to them.
1Jn 4:6 We are from God; he who knows God listens to us; he who is not from God does not listen to us. By this we know the spirit of truth and the spirit of error. 16 We have come to know and have believed the love which God has for us. God is love, and the one who abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him. 17 By this, love is perfected with us, so that we may have confidence in the day of judgment; because as He is, so also are we in this world. 18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves punishment, and the one who fears is not perfected in love.
"Punishment" in v. 18 is " kolasis" as in the earlier passage I just mentioned. John shows the clear distinction between those who are loved by God and saved, and those who are not.
Those who go to Hell (and then the Lake of Fire), die in unbelief. Scripture says Heb 9:27 "And just as it is appointed for man to die once, and after that comes judgment." Those who die in unbelief stay in eternal unbelief. What is the penalty for unbelief? Hell and eternal punishment.
Eternal unbelief earns eternal punishment.
This demonstrates God's eternal justice.
Just as eternal life demonstrates God's grace and mercy, Hell proves God's justice and thrice holiness. So, to deny one IS to deny the other and means one has an UNholy God without justice.
God Himself throws unbelievers (aka the wicked) into the Lake of Fire Himself; its not merely that they earned their rightful place there, but He commands them to go and even puts them there:
Matt. 10: 28 Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell.
Matt. 25: 41 “Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels.
Rev 19:20 And the beast was captured, and with it the false prophet who in its presence had done the signs by which he deceived those who had received the mark of the beast and those who worshiped its image. These two were thrown alive into the lake of fire that burns with sulfur.
Rev 20:13 And the sea gave up the dead who were in it, Death and Hades gave up the dead who were in them, and they were judged, each one of them, according to what they had done. 14 Then Death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire. 15 And if anyone's name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.
All who are rebellious against God, whether demons, Satan, or men, all get the righteous judgement of Hell and eternal punishment. Man's rebellion against God is just as bad as that of the fallen angels.
Hell glorifies God's attributes of justice and holiness. With this backdrop, it also then glorifies God's grace and mercy for those whom He saves.
To deny Hell is to deny Heaven because God says they are equally real and eternal:
Mat 25:41 "Then He will also say to those on His left, 'Depart from Me, accursed ones, into the eternal fire which has been prepared for the devil and his angels....46 And these will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life."
Mat 13:41 The Son of Man will send his angels, and they will gather out of his kingdom all causes of sin and all law-breakers, 42 and throw them into the FIERY FURNACE. In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. 43 Then the righteous will shine like the sun in the kingdom of their Father. He who has ears, let him hear.
The gnashing of teeth is not one of sorrow and pain, but its of hatred and rebellion. The Greek word "brugmos" means grating of teeth. Its the same word used here:
Speaking to the high priest Stephen said, Act 7:52 "Which one of the prophets did your fathers not persecute? They killed those who had previously announced the coming of the Righteous One, whose betrayers and murderers you have now become; 53 you who received the law as ordained by angels, and yet did not keep it." 54 Now when they heard this, they were cut to the quick, and they began gnashing their teeth at him. 56 and he said, "Behold, I see the heavens opened up and the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God." 57 But they cried out with a loud voice, and covered their ears and rushed at him with one impulse. 58 When they had driven him out of the city, they began stoning him; and the witnesses laid aside their robes at the feet of a young man named Saul.
The reality of eternal punishment demonstrates the glory of God's grace and mercy. We see this with Saul/Paul. He deserved Hell, but God demonstrated His love, grace, and mercy to him in order to be a display of God's power and workmanship forever, just as He does with each person He saves (see Eph. 1-2).
Hell is a literal place which will be thrown into the literal Lake of Fire where unbelievers, Satan, and the demons will burn forever as they live in eternal unbelief: this IS eternal destruction. "Has God said?" Yes He has! He has spoken and HE and therefore His Word is faithful and true:

Rev 22:6 And he said to me, "These words are faithful and true"; and the Lord, the God of the spirits of the prophets, sent His angel to show to His bond-servants the things which must soon take place. 7 "And behold, I am coming quickly. Blessed is he who heeds the words of the prophecy of this book."
All of Scripture is to be believed and obeyed (in its context correctly applied) and no one is to add nor subtract from Scripture. The warning of doing this both in the OT and NT is to be delaread a liar by God and we know liars do not go to Heaven.
Fear Him Who Judges Righteously. You cannot change what He has declared, has done, or will do.
Ecc 3:14 I perceived that whatever God does endures forever; nothing can be added to it, nor anything taken from it. God has done it, so that people fear before Him.
As John MacArthur said:
Fear of eternal judgment, friends, is a very essential component in heart preparation for salvation. I hinted at this, I think it was last Sunday, I speak so many times I don't know whether I'm coming or going, truthfully, but I think in one of the services I commented on this, and just for your own edification I'll mention it to you. We have today an absence of the fear factor in evangelism. I say that and I think of that stupid TV program where they create artificial fears. I don't need any artificial fears. Instead of people dealing with artificial fears, traumatizing themselves through contrived means, they really ought to find out what true fear is and that is to understand the judgment of God. Let me tell you something about what I would say is the essential...essential element of salvation. Really there are four things that are necessary for a person to be saved. You could call this the science of salvation. One, fear...you have to be saved from something, from hell. I don't think people would want to be saved from their sin if they could have their sin and have heaven too, agreed? Does that sound reasonable? If I could have my sin and go to heaven, that sounds like a deal. But hell, that's another matter. And I don't think evangelism is done properly and I don't think a heart is prepared properly if there isn't a component of fear of eternal judgment, eternal hell. And in our evangelism we have to do that, even with our children we have to do that. Second component, the second element is humility, humility. Not only do you have to be afraid of eternal hell, but you have to also understand that you can do nothing to rescue yourself. You have to humble yourself and deny yourself and see your utter unworthiness and your utter nothingness and your utter bankruptcy. This is heart work, folks, in the matter of evangelism. This is the plowing of the soil. And the third element is repentance. You have to come to the place where standing, as it were, looking into the yawning mouth of hell, fearing that you will spend forever there, understanding that you can do nothing to change that, understanding your utter wretchedness and sinfulness and unworthiness, and then coming to the point where you say, "I want to be delivered from this, I want to be rescued from this. I want You to forgive my sins. I acknowledge my sins." That's all the heart work and only then do you come to the fourth element which is to believe the gospel. Most evangelism today is "Jesus died for your sins, believe that, pray this prayer, and you're in." What about the first three? What about the heart preparation? You may have to put the fear factor back in the gospel. It's all through Scripture.

Dumpster-Diving To Find Spiritual Food
Why do "Christians" find "truth" in heretical teaching and promote the reading of such accursed things? Rom 12:9 "Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor what is evil; cling to what is good." A truth plus a lie is a lie. "No lie is of the truth" John said. The Tree of the knowledge of Good and Evil had nothing to offer but DEATH, yet today people still argue with God and say "YES IT DOES!".

American Girl Promotes Eastern Mysticism
American Girl book promoting Eastern Mysticism as Lighthouse Trails Research reports:

Yet another diet book, only this one is linked to the New Age. Can't be surprised, can you, when Oprah calls it "the book that Oprah called "the miracle we've been waiting for."
The ways in which the enemy of God will try to seduce people can often be subtle. We've seen him use weight loss programs before like with Gwen Shamblin's "Weigh Down". Shamblin is vehemently against the biblical Triune God.
So while these women pose their programs and theories as a way to lose weight, what Satan is actually doing is luring in women to expose them to New Age, anti-Christ religions and thinking.

Couple Handing Out Bibles Killed By Muslim Terrorists Turned Out To Be Roman Catholic
Jean and Scott Adam were killed by Somali terrorists, were actually not Evangelical Christians spreading the Only Gospel that can save a soul: salvation by grace alone through Christ alone apart from works, to the glory of God alone, but were Roman Catholics:
Sadly, but not surprisingly, Adams was encouraged, not discouraged by Richard Peace to leave the RCC. How utterly, utterly sad.
“They were an extraordinary part of our community," Monsignor Lloyd Torgerson said of Jean and Scott Adam after the conclusion of mid-day mass.
"They loved St. Monica. We loved them. They did incredible work.”
He loved the sea. Jean loved the sea," Richard Peace told KPCC's "AirTalk." Richard Peace teaches at Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena. "They’d planned this trip for a long time. And It was really an extension of Scott’s ministry.”
Scott Adam had worked with Richard Peace toward a PhD. Adam ultimately decided not to pursue ordination or finish his dissertation.
“The exercise of his ministry came as they visited various places, gave out Bibles free," said Peace. "Scott would preach at churches. He would teach at various institutions. He loved what he was doing.”
Monsignor Torgerson said the Adams were extremely committed.
Sadly, but not surprisingly, Adams was encouraged, not discouraged by Richard Peace to leave the RCC. How utterly, utterly sad.

Wisconsin Teachers: 68% of Students NOT Proficient In Reading
And yet the teachers want to keep their jobs and get paid for the failures of that state's educational system? I saw a poster at their protest that read, "If you can read, thank a teacher". So if 68% aren't proficient, who do we blame? It goes both ways, folks. This is also the same problem here in California as well.

Chuck Smith Advocates Murder of Unborn Baby
Chuck Smith advocates abortion.
Go head dear, abort your baby, its going to die anyway. God will forgive you!
Say WHAT?! This is what Chuck Smith advised a young woman to do with her unborn sick baby. He told her its ok to murder her baby--God understands there are exceptions to His command. This is unbelievable! However its not atypical either.
Pragmatism, biblical doctrine as optional, justifying sin: this mentality is the mentality of most professing Christians. Either one is pro-life OR pro-abortion. Period. No inbetween. Its black and white. Smith said "I believe its a sin but there are extenuating circumstances..." Nope. Matt. 18:6 here. Also 1Sam 15:22-23.
The double speak I hear from so many high profile "Christians" is making me sick. They deny the very thing they say they believe in elsewhere. Its hypocritical and dishonest. God help Smith for what he just did---avocating murder, a low view of ALL human life, and then lying about it. How DARE he decide what life is worth keeping or destroying! Thou art the man! He is doing what Saul did, in the name of God.
After rebelling against God and deciding what he would keep or destroy, as well as sparing the life of King Agag and then lying about it, Saul lost everything and revealed increasingly his hate for God and His children like Jonathon and David. Saul wanted to use that which God deemed evil, to worship Him!

The Young And The Restless
It seems the young, without experience, wisdom, or knowledge of history, think that they know better. The results of their tantrums end up being worse off. Germany and Egypt are examples. Spiritually speaking, the Emergent Church Movement and Neo-Calvism are examples.
Abortion
We're all going to die; some before others. Does the timing of death justify abortion or euthanasian on any level? How do you square that with Scripture that says we are not to murder?

Islamic Countries Will Never Embrace Democracy
Islam will never embrace Democracy simply because its worldview is contrary to the notion on every level. That's why Mubarak's regime didn't work well and why non-Muslims continue to be persecuted. Ignorant Americans (including its political and religious leadership) simply are blind to this fundamental fact.

A significant number of Egyptians are favorable to terrorist organizations, with close to half favorable to Hamas and one in five favorable to Al Qaeda.
What does this mean for the United States? Almost certainly the next Egyptian government will be hostile to the United States and will pursue policies that are inimical to our interests. In the Zogby poll, 85 percent called themselves unfavorable to the United States and 92 percent described America as one of the two greatest threats to Egyptian interests in the world. The Pew polling bears this point out.
The Pew poll similarly found that the Egyptian people were unfavorable to the U.S. by an 82 percent to 17 percent margin. A survey conducted by Gallup last year shows that just 19 percent approve of the job the United States has played providing leadership around the globe, while about half disapprove. And according to the WorldPublicOpinion survey, two-thirds of Egyptians say the U.S. plays a negative role in the world, and eight in ten say the U.S. is seeking to impose American culture on Muslim countries.

What Part of "Mark And Avoid" Is Unclear?
Well, it looks like the pirate and the centurion are continuing their unholy, unedifying, carnal and fleshly tweeting (the custom of Reformers). Neither one can biblically deal with supporting a false teacher like Piper, but they sure do love to used their forked tongues to slice discernment bloggers--the very people who have exposed their treachery against the King and His children.
Mike Ratliff has exposed the error of Frank Turk and John Piper. With Chis Rosebrough dropping by to give compliments to Mike, while accusing the rest of us for a supposed "tone" which he apparently is above every using (his own Sacred Sandwich and Pirate Radio would never mock anyone), he didn't and still won't deal with the issues we brought up consistantly. I find it interesting that a complaint of "tone" is usually brought up when someone's error has been exposed for what it is. Its a converstation stopper, only it doesn't work with those of us who are tenacious for the Truth.
Again and again, the questions are put forth without a biblical defense:
Why are we to tolerate those who side with the enemies of Christ? Why is that somehow considered good, when God says its bad?
What part of DO NOT RECEIVE INTO YOUR HOUSE OR GIVE A GREETING to those with a false gospel/doctrine is not being understood by the Pirate and the Centurion?
What part of “mark and avoid” is unclear? How can a Christian Hedonist not read the clear Scripture and simply obey such commands?
Since when is Justification by faith alone debateable?
Since when is Pelagianism considered Christian?
WHAT DOCTRINAL ERROR WILL CAUSE TURK AND PIPER TO SEVER ALL TIES FROM A TEACHER AND UTTERLY REJECT HIM WHOLE-HEARTEDLY?
Rom 16:17 Now I urge you, brethren, keep your eye on those who cause dissensions and hindrances contrary to the teaching which you learned, and turn away from them.18 For such men are slaves, not of our Lord Christ but of their own appetites; and by their smooth and flattering speech they deceive the hearts of the unsuspecting.
*Keep an eye on such men AND turn away from them* Is this not a command to keep a careful watch and then reject such men? Or is this a mere suggestion to be obeyed IF you feel like it or when its convenient? Certainly Scripture does NOT teach “truth in everything”.

Red Flag: McCain Can Work With Obama

Speaking with Bloomberg Television a day after a private meeting with President Obama, McCain said he could picture working with Obama on several issues going forward. "I think there's a number of issues we could work on together, and I think it's pretty clear that the president has really pivoted to a much more centrist position, which I think makes it much more for us easier to work with him," McCain said.
McCain said his meeting with Obama was "cordial," as his relationship with the president has been. "The relationship I've always had with him is cordial," McCain said. "We had strong differences on ObamaCare, on the stimulus package — and they were passionate differences — but we've always had a cordial relationship, and that's based on my respect for the office of the presidency of the United States."...
McCain said he thought he and Obama could work together going forward on issues like immigration reform and enhanced rescission.

And THAT'S the problem. Its also why I refused to vote for the compromising RINO. Bush tried to work with Ted Kennedy on Education and that didn't win him any help from the Left. And by the way, McCain has worked against his own constitutants regarding the illegal alien issue and the border issue. And now look: a Muslim cleric tried to sneak in across the Mexico border to CA (think it hasn't or won't be tried with Texas or Arizona??). Obama and McCain agree on a lot of important issues which means their foundation is similar and THAT means there is a fundamental difference between those two and Conservatives.
Might I add that McCain's family is also pro-homosexual rights. Very similiar situation with Bush and his family. Both men are "moderate" (read: liberal) and their wives and daughters are liberal.

Muslim Cleric Tried to Sneak Into CA From Mexico
Why controlling the border w/ Mexico matters. But Obama and border state governors and/or senators don't care.

U.S. border guards got a surprise when they searched a Mexican BMW and found a hardline Muslim cleric - banned from France and Canada - curled up in the boot.
Said Jaziri, who called for the death of a Danish cartoonist that drew pictures of the prophet Mohammed, was being smuggled into California when he was arrested, along with his driver Kenneth Robert Lawler.
The 43-year-old was deported from Canada to his homeland Tunisia in 2007 after it emerged he had lied on his refugee application about having served jail time in France.

Watchman On The Wall

The Watchman

Thy way, not mine, O Lord, however dark it be;
Lead me by Thine own hand, choose out the path for me.
“…if the watchman sees the sword coming and does not blow the trumpet, and the people are not warned, and the sword comes and takes any person from among them, he is taken away in his iniquity; but his blood I will require at the watchman’s hand.’ … I have made you a watchman for the house of Israel; therefore you shall hear a word from My mouth and warn them for Me.” Ezekiel 33:6-7
“Some one, then, must undertake the ungracious task of probing and laying bare the evils of the age; for men must not be allowed to congratulate themselves that all is well. If others will not, he will.
If others shrink from the obloquy of such a work, he will not…. He loves his fellow-men too well. They may upbraid him; they may call him a misanthropist, or a prophet of evil; they may ascribe his warnings to the worst of motives, such as pride, or arrogance, or self-esteem, or malice, or envy; but he will give no heed to these unjust insinuations.

Satan has many snares which need to be detected; the world has many spells and lures which must be disenchanted; religion has many guises which must be unmasked, many devious paths of inconsistency which must be pointed out, many cherished errors which must be condemned, many carnal taints which must be abhorred and shunned. All these he must protest against without fear or favour.”

Darrin Patrick
John MacArthur recently took Emergent Darrin Patrick to task for statements made in his book. People are getting upset about this but MacArthur is right. Here's a summary of the issue.

His passion is to help the church understand and live the gospel in the world. Patrick has taught at Driscoll's reTrain in 2010He taught at Rick Warren's Saddleback 12Cities12 Conversations in 2010 (hosted by Ecummenical Lausanne Congress).
Patrick was a panelist at the ecumenical gathering of Lausanne Congress back in March 2010.

Let's look at Patrick's church, The Journey:

Mission is intrinsically connected to community...
Living the gospel, ie – being on mission, can take many forms: explaining the gospel to a friend or stranger, carrying out acts of compassion, or by being faithful to sacrificially love those in your church. The challenge is for all of us to stay in “mission-mode” and not to default to “maintenance-mode.” When it comes to being missional, it is easy for Christians and local churches to be content in our bible studies, worship services and small groups and to forget the world. We do not drift toward mission, we drift away from it. It is not easy to be missional, it is hard work, it takes intentionality. It is much less stressful to hang out with people who look the same, smell the same and believe the same things we do. It is uncomfortable and challenging to intentionally spend time with people who hold differing world-views. But we must push through this discomfort because we are the church. We are the church, the called-out ones. We are the church, the sent-out ones. We are the church, on mission for the sake of the world.

The Journey has a Board of Directors. For one that claims to be the pattern from a man who writes and speaks about church planting, this is UNbiblical:

Remember Patrick's church is the fruition of his church planting theology and practice....

"Theology at the Bottleworks was started to reach people who are actively opposed to Christianity, by discussing contemporary cultural issues in a neutral environment," explained Darrin Patrick, founding pastor of the Journey, which attracts about 1,500 people weekly to three sites. Those who attend Theology at the Bottleworks grab a beer and discuss political or spiritual topics, such as the role of women in society, the legal system, or animal rights.

This violates many verses on promotion of drinking and being sober-minded. It also violates the Bible on commands to be salt and light--different and distinct from the world, not like the world. This is so fundamentally opposed to sound doctrine and practice, its incredible anyone has to even discuss it. Yet this is what its like to be a "church planter". Paul never did this. He was the last one to be pragmatic. Consider who hangs out in bars. Is using that which perpetuates drunkenness to promote that which is spiritual, even considered in Scripture? No! How about as a "church"- to promote this--they aren't considering the brother who may either have drunkenness in his past and so is very cautious to be in a bar, but to have that thought put out there--promoted, isn't helping him grow in Christ. The MATURE believer would know this from Scripture.
To drink and talk about theology (notice, not doctrine), is justification for wallowing in worldliness. How can one "show" (as they claim that's what this is about, "living the gospel") the striking and polar differences between Light and Dark, between Death and Life, as well as the call to the Lordship of the Lord which IS part of the Gospel, if they are hanging out in bars drinking?

Scott Brown Liberal: ain't no surprise

This was clear when he won his election. Yes, the darling hope of the GOP for MA. Yeah, how's that working out for ya?

Piper Endorses Chesterton's Orthodoxy (Roman Catholicism)
Piper celebrates Roman Catholic philosopher G.K. Chesterton.

I celebrate his birthday by recommending his book Orthodoxy.
The title gives no clue as to what you will find inside. It had a huge influence on me forty years ago in ways that would have exasperated Chesterton. He did all he could to keep me from becoming a Calvinist, and instead made me a romantic one—a happy one.
If I thought his broadsides against predestination really hit home and undid true biblical doctrine, I would keep my mouth shut or change my worldview. But his celebration of poetry and paradox undermines his own abomination of the greatest truth-and-mystery-lovers around today, the happyCalvinists.
Nothing in this Calvinism-abominating book came close to keeping me from embracing the glorious sovereignty of God. On the contrary, the poetic brightness of the book, along with the works of C. S. Lewis, awakened in me an exuberance about the strangeness of all things—which in the end made me able to embrace the imponderable paradoxes of God’s decisive control of all things and the total justice of his holding us accountable.
One of the reasons that Calvinism is stirring today is that it takes both truth and mystery seriously. It’s a singing, poetry-writing, run-through-the-fields Calvinism.

Birthright Citizenship -- A Fundamental Misunderstanding of the 14th Amendment
14th Ammendment and other cases clarify that illegal aliens and their spouses and children are not "birthright citizenship".

In the famous Slaughter-House cases of 1872, the Supreme Court stated that this qualifying phrase was intended to exclude “children of ministers, consuls, and citizens or subjects of foreign States born within the United States.” This was confirmed in 1884 in another case, Elk vs. Wilkins, when citizenship was denied to an American Indian because he “owed immediate allegiance to” his tribe and not the United States.
American Indians and their children did not become citizens until Congress passed the Indian Citizenship Act of 1924. There would have been no need to pass such legislation if the 14th Amendment extended citizenship to every person born in America, no matter what the circumstances of their birth, and no matter who their parents are.
Even in U.S. v. Wong Kim Ark, the 1898 case most often cited by “birthright” supporters due to its overbroad language, the Court only held that a child born of lawful, permanent residents was a U.S. citizen. That is a far cry from saying that a child born of individuals who are here illegally must be considered a U.S. citizen.End quote. This isn't a surprise for some of us, but should be a dire warning to all parents who subject their kids to the growing influence of demonic wisdom of the world in our society.

He refers to the secular humanist principles of John Dewey (1859-1952), the philosopher and education reformer whose principles have shaped public education in America. Dewey promoted a philosophy of education with the premise that learning by doing (experimentalism) should form the basis of education, and any idea or concept is validated by its practicality (pragmatism)."
This is more evidence of the world's influence over "Christians" and the pulpits. Pragmatism has taken over most churches today, which necessarily denies biblical doctrine as absolute. A low view of Scripture leads or reveals rebellion against God.
The first battle on earth against God via attacking His Word was in the Garden of Eden when the Serpent attacked,"Has God said?" Remember what Eve did in the Garden--she gazed upon the forbidden Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil and considered it to be GOOD, when God said it would only bring DEATH.
Scripture teaches infallably how to deal with all things pertaining to life and godliness. HIS wisdom is first pure, the world's wisdom is demonic and produces rotten fruit, which is why God told Adam and Eve not to eat from that tree of knowledge. Today, "Christians" continue to want that knowledge when God has already given us all we need to know on how to live life that glorifies Him. But like Eve, "Christians" think there's something more, better, something God isn't telling us or something God left out. So they seek that which is NOT GOOD FOR THE SOUL but rather, BRINGS DEATH (of course since the Fall, all are born dead in their sins and tresspasses). The fruit bears death, rebellion, dissension, and is demonic, James says.
Jas 3:11 Does a fountain send out from the same opening both fresh and bitter water?
Jas 3:12 Can a fig tree, my brethren, produce olives, or a vine produce figs? Nor can salt water produce fresh.
Jas 3:13 Who among you is wise and understanding? Let him show by his good behavior his deeds in the gentleness of wisdom.
Jas 3:14 But if you have bitter jealousy and selfish ambition in your heart, do not be arrogant and so lie against the truth.
Jas 3:15 This wisdom is not that which comes down from above, but is earthly, natural, demonic.
Jas 3:16 For where jealousy and selfish ambition exist, there is disorder and every evil thing.
Jas 3:17 But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, reasonable, full of mercy and good fruits, unwavering, without hypocrisy.
It matters what you hear and read and what you subject yourself and your children to.

Besides being subjected to the world's view of life and thinking in the classroom by the teachers and textbooks, children are also being influenced by their classmates at school. This compounds the problem. How many biblically-thinking Christians are in public schools? How strong is their influence? How bold are they? No, they are being drowned out by the masses of God-hating souls who are growing up with a hardened heart like what Romans 1 describes.
There might be a few Christians in the public schools, but they have no say over content and behavior of the entire school. Their influence is not strong, not necessarily by their fault, but because the world will not and cannot hear them. As Christians, its not our job to change society anyway, right? The world will always hate Christ and therefore hate His childeren. And as the days grow darker, it will get worse, not better.
I speak as one who has observed the change in my particular city which used to be conservative, but now is getting very liberal. On top of that the state of California is getting worse as it dictates wicked values in the classrooms and textbooks and eliminates sound thinking (no more use of "mom and dad" or "mother and father"--by law the teachers and textbooks can ONLY USE a non-gender word like "parent" or "guardian"). The Lord confirms constantly that His way of leading us OUT of the state school system was the righteous way.
Consider that besides the indoctrination of the government school system of unbelief and post-modern thinking in everything over your children, this is also happening in the local churches on a large scale (as well as conferences, seminars, and seminaries).

Vaccines Connected To Austism Found To Be A Fraudulant Study
"The British Medical Journal on Wednesday accused a disgraced British doctor of committing an "elaborate fraud" by faking data in his studies linking vaccines with autism....The journal's editors said it was not possible that Wakefield made a mistake and that he must have faked the data. They supported their position with a series of articles by a journalist who used medical records and interviews to show that Wakefield falsified data." ~Reuters

How a study is done (or faked), by whom, if everything is revealed (who's funding the research), and HOW ITS REPORTED can help you decide if what is being alleged is true or not. Remember, there's no such thing as an UNBIASED study, even the questions are slanted to get a result. This is true about the supposed, but totally unproven "report" of a "gay gene". NPR reporters didn't know to read the research and therefore wrongly reported about the existance of a "gay gene". Go here for the important article "Gay Gene?" by Dr. Jeffrey Satinover. The World's Wisdom Is Not Good Food For The Soul Of The Christian
Gen 2:16 And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, "You may surely eat of every tree of the garden, 17 but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die."
Gen 3:6 So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was to be desired to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate, and she also gave some to her
Going to anywhere but Scripture for wisdom is folly. This was Eve's problem. She sat there and pondered how "good" the fruit from the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil would be (good according to whom? Satan, not God), even though God PROHIBITED it as a SOURCE FOR FOOD. Why do people continue in her sin?
2Co 11:3 But I am afraid that as the serpent deceived Eve by his cunning, your thoughts will be led astray from a sincere and pure devotion to Christ. 4 For if someone comes and proclaims another Jesus than the one we proclaimed, or if you receive a different spirit from the one you received, or if you accept a different gospel from the one you accepted, you put up with it readily enough.
Jas 4:4 You adulterous people! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Therefore whoever wishes to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God. 5 Or do you suppose it is to no purpose that the Scripture says, "He yearns jealously over the spirit that he has made to dwell in us"?

world (kosnos) - "World" stands for the world-system in its alienation and hostility to God (cf. 1 John 2:15-17; 5:19).
hostility (echthra) - This person has set himself in opposition to God (cf. Rom. 8:5-8 [esp. v. 7]).
The person who chooses to enter into a relationship of love and affection with the world makes himself an enemy of God.
The context makes clear what is involved in worldliness or being a friend of the world. The basic issue is a life that centers on self. A selfish determination to satisfy my desires and cravings, to have things my way, identifies me as a friend of the world.
We should note that this involves a deliberate choice (wishes to be) to become involved with the world. A person decides that, rather than submit himself to God and His Word, he is going to do what he wants; he is going to have it his way.
In the next two verses James demonstrates the validity of what he has just said.
