Bob and Bow Bergdahl: traitors

Exo 23:13  "Now concerning everything which I have said to you, be on your guard; and do not mention the name of other gods, nor let them be heard from your mouth. 

Rom 13:1  Every person is to be in subjection to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those which exist are established by God. 2  Therefore whoever resists authority has opposed the ordinance of God; and they who have opposed will receive condemnation upon themselves....Rom 13:4  for it is a minister of God to you for good. But if you do what is evil, be afraid; for it does not bear the sword for nothing; for it is a minister of God, an avenger who brings wrath on the one who practices evil. 5Therefore it is necessary to be in subjection, not only because of wrath, but also for conscience' sake. 


Bob Bergdahl, father of Bowe Bergdahl who was captured by the Taliban since 2009 and released a few days ago, has claimed to be a Calvinist Christian. This entire story, if even half of what the media has reported is accurate, is littered with suspicious behavior. Is Bowe a hero? No. Why? Because apparently he was anti-American before he deserted the Army and then subsequently captured by the Taliban. His father also seems to be of the same mind it seems.

Bowe lived a drifter's life of hedonism before he tried to get hired by the French Foreign Legion.

But in the weeks before his capture, Bergdahl had made murky statements that suggested he was gravitating away from the soldiers in his unit and toward ­desertion, a member of his platoon told Rolling Stone.

“He spent more time with the Afghans than he did with his platoon,” former Spc. Jason Fry told the magazine in 2012.

As a teen, the home-schooled son of Calvinists took up ballet — recruited to be a “lifter” by “a beautiful local girl,” Rolling Stone reported, “the guy who holds the girl aloft in a ballet sequence.” The strategy worked: Bergdahl — who also began dabbling in Budd­hism and tarot card reading — soon moved in with the woman.

Even as a teen, he could fire a .22-caliber rifle with precision.

At age 20, he traveled to Paris and started learning French in hopes of joining the French Foreign Legion....

Bowe Bergdahl would detail his disillusionment with the Afghanistan campaign in an email to his parents three days before he went missing.

“I am sorry for everything here,” he wrote. “These people need help, yet what they get is the most conceited country in the world telling them that they are nothing and that they are stupid.”

Bergdahl also complained about fellow soldiers. The battalion commander was a “conceited old fool,” he said, and the only “decent” sergeants, planning to leave the platoon “as soon as they can,” told the privates — Bergdahl then among them — “to do the same.”

“I am ashamed to be an American. And the title of US soldier is just the lie of fools,” he concluded. “I am sorry for everything. The horror that is America is disgusting.”

Bob Bergdahl responded in an email: “OBEY YOUR CONSCIENCE!”

Yet the "most conceited country in the world" was good enough to get him out of Pakistan. His insubordination and disrespect for his superiors shows rebellion in his heart and actions prior to being captured. To feed this by his "Christian" father is inexcusable. Scripture clearly states we are to be respectful of those above us and certainly to submit to our government unless it tells us to disobey God (Acts 5:29). All throughout the New Testament, believers are never commanded to rebel against the rulers unless they command us to disobey God, as in for example, proclaiming the risen Lord Jesus Christ and His gospel. Then we are to obey God rather than man because God trumps all men. Our loyalty is to God not man. 

Bob Bergdahl praises the satanic Allah for the return of his son:

Here he violated Ex. 23:13 as well as other verses that show we are solely to give the triune God of Scripture praise. To invoke pagan gods is to commit treason against God as we saw repeatedly done in the Old Testament by a plethora of kings and the nations of Judah and Israel--something God judged them for.

Additionally the father has tweeted his goal to get more terrorists released from Gitmo. The tweet has since been removed but was captured by the Gateway Pundit.

I noticed some other pro-Islamic and Afghan tweets made on his twitter account as well.

Last year this Calvinist showed himself to be dressed as a Muslim, complete with full beard, head covering, black long shirt in the middle of summer, and beads. This was, according to The Blaze, deliberate on Bergdahl's part to i"live vicariously through his son". What does that even mean? Morever he learned to speak Pashto, the language his captured son was apparently learning--and we heard his excellent accent and fluency at the press meeting the other day (on video above).

All this is to say that this is not a battle to gain a valiant warrior. This is really a spiritual war. A Christian would never pray to nor in the name of the pagan god "Allah". A Christian would never praise the demonic Allah, nor would he identify with the poltiical religion of Islam. A biblical Christian identifies with Christ Jesus alone and will seek the Triune God of Scripture alone for peace, joy, wisdom, grace, mercy, and help---not a political-religion that is from demons. 

While sympathy is understandable for these two parents, their tragic ordeal is no excuse for their  treason against the HOLY HOLY HOLY God of Israel, the triune God of Scripture. Compromise because of a relationship or other circumstance is sinful against God and must be repented of, not celebrated.
