69th Anniversary of D-Day At Normandy: June 6,1944

Commemorations of the 69th anniversary of D-Day started Thursday in France with a flag-raising at an American cemetery overlooking Omaha Beach.

Tourists, many from the U.S. and Britain, gathered in the still morning under a brilliant spring sky to witness the flag-raising amid the neat rows of thousands of white marble crosses and stars of David marking the graves of U.S. servicemen and women killed during the Allied invasion of Normandy that began June 6, 1944.  More here (including photos).

D-Day As It Happened: real time as it did in 1944. Not only photos a film footage, but you can follow the lives of 7 people who were there from their perspective as it happened. This is very unique!

US Army on D-day

Here are memories of D-Day with the British.

Remembering D-day Today: the Day American, Canadian, and British Soldiers Stormed the Beach At Normandy

69 years ago today was the invasion at Normandy Beach, France. Few Veterans from WW II are still living, and the reality of what they faced, is quickly fading away from our national memory.

“I’m proud of it. I have a lot of personal satisfaction. If it weren’t for the Rangers, they would have lost the beach,” said James Gabaree, an old Ranger who fought and nearly died in the largest armed invasion in history, known as Operation Overlord.
“We made a difference,” said Gabaree, 88, who landed at Omaha Beach with the 5th Ranger Battalion, part of an invasion force of 160,000 American, British and Canadian troops who established a foothold in Nazi-occupied western Europe....
“I hope people remember there were many men who sacrificed their lives and youths. We were young when we went over there, but we came back old men. It was a supreme sacrifice. I hope people remember, there were some of us willing to die for democracy, because we believed in it.”
Gabaree said his health isn’t what it used to be, and he’s not sure he’ll be here for the 70th anniversary. But he isn’t complaining.
“I didn’t think I’d ever celebrate my 20th birthday,” he said.

Christ Follower or Christian?

I recently ran into this issue again: someone mentioned how her pastor and their church encourages the use of the label "Christ Follower" rather than "Christian" because in this culture, the word "Christian" seems to have lost its meaning. I agree. By today's standards, even among "Christians", anyone can believe anything and still claim to be a Christian. Anyone can also deny any foundational truth of Scripture (that which makes Christianity distinct from all other religions) and still be accepted as a "Christian". Unbelievers, however (that is, those who do not profess to be a Christian in any way) will just lump anyone who has any notion or belief no matter how nominal or wrong of Jesus as a "Christian". This error is understandable because they are unfamilar with what a biblical Christian is. But "Evangelicals" are supposed to know. Not any more.

Another problem is that many professing Christians today want to be unchurchy (hey, if the Post-Modern Emergents can make up words, I can too), "Christ-Follower" sounds more hip, less dogmatic, less in-your-face, and more about one's perspective, a relationship, a view, something you've chosen but don't want to place upon anyone else. To many POMOS/Emergents/Seeker Friendlies, "Christian" is offensive and "Christ-follower" is neutral. Well, interestingly enough, "Christian" was supposed to be an insulting word back in the early days of Christianity. However, biblical Christians from the outset have gladly taken up any reproach for the cause of the risen Lord Jesus Christ. We proudly wear HIS name and the biblical label of "Christian".

1Pe 4:16  but if anyone suffers as a Christian, he is not to be ashamed, but is to glorify God in this name.

Extreme Theology made some interesting observations a few years back:

Quote:

...Here's the answer I came up with after reviewing the sermons preached at these seeker-driven / purpose-driven churches over the last 24 months:
Christ Follower: Someone who has made the decision to be an emotionally well adjusted self-actualized risk taking leader who knows his purpose, lives a 'no regrets' life of significance, has overcome his fears, enjoys a healthy marriage with better than average sex, is an attentive parent, is celebrating recovery from all his hurts, habits and hang ups, practices Biblical stress relief techniques, is financially free from consumer debt, fosters emotionally healthy relationships with his peers, attends a weekly life group, volunteers regularly at church, tithes off the gross and has taken at least one humanitarian aid trip to a third world nation.
Based upon this summarized definition, I've come to the conclusion that the world is full of people who can fit this definition but who've never repented of their sins and trusted in Christ alone for the forgiveness of their sins. This definition could easily apply to Mormons and Jehovah's Witnesses. In fact, it could apply to Emergent Heretics, Unitarians, Muslims and practicing Jews. The reason why this definition of a Christ Follower could be applied to those outside of Christianity is because this is a definition based upon deeds NOT creeds. (Which is precisely what Rick Warren's so-called "second reformation" is all about.).....
It is frightening but absolutely true that ANYBODY can modify their actions, just like the Pharisees, so that their behaviors conform with this purpose-driven definition of what it means to be a Christ Follower without ever believing the creeds of the Historic Christian faith and without ever trusting in Jesus Christ alone for the forgiveness of their sins.

Scripture states that doctrine has eternal consequences, so it does matter indeed:
2Jn 1:9  Everyone who goes on ahead and does not abide in the teaching of Christ, does not have
God. Whoever abides in the teaching has both the Father and the Son.10  If anyone comes to you
and does not bring this teaching, do not receive him into your house or give him any greeting, 11
for the one who gives him a greeting participates in his evil deeds.

2Tim. 4:  3 For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. 4 They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths.

1Ti 6:3  If anyone advocates a different doctrine and does not agree with sound words, those of our Lord Jesus Christ, and with the doctrine conforming to godliness, 4  he is conceited and understands nothing; but he has a morbid interest in controversial questions and disputes about words, out of which arise envy, strife, abusive language, evil suspicions,:5  and constant friction between men of depraved mind and deprived of the truth, who suppose that godliness is a means of gain.

Notice in that last passage in 1Tim. 6--the close connection between biblical doctrine and godliness. Biblical doctrine, if believed, leads to a godly life. Its a transformation from the inside, out. As Scripture states:

Php 2:12  So then, my beloved, just as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your salvation with fear and trembling; 13  for it is God who is at work in you, both to will and to work for His good pleasure.

Eph 2:8  For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; 9  not as a result of works, so that no one may boast. 10  For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them.

We are saved not by works (we have no good works, because are not innately good, Romans 3:10-18 states), but by God's grace (unmerited favor). A saved person is a new creature in Christ, HIS handiwork, created to do His good works by His power to glorify Him. Anyone can do what humans call "good", however its not "good" according to the standard of God Himself (which is the sole standard of what is good). A Mormon or Hindu can, say, feed the poor. A "good" work, humanly speaking. However, if its not done to honor and obey the risen Lord Jesus Christ of Scripture, then its considered unholy dung to God. The difference between a Mormon and a Christian then, is not feeding the poor, but rather who or what they are trusting in for salvation and eternal life.

Petition asks Congress to investigate, prosecute offenses by President Barrack Hussein Obama

Petition asks Congress to investigate, prosecute offenses.

Here is the petition if you dare to sign it. It might flag you with the IRS or the DOJ though (put ACLJ on speed dial).

As HSDL states:

The Constitution was not written in the name of our leaders, but by the authority of "We The People." It was expected that the people would enforce leaders' duty to preserve, protect, and defend the constitution.

If our government no longer faithfully adheres to the Constitution, ultimately the problem is that we are not doing our part as enlightened citizens; and when we find that the government's current actions are out of step with the Constitution, it is our duty as citizens to act.

Most basically, we have the duty to throw out all elected officials who abuse the Constitution and to replace them with new officials who will faithfully preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution.

For years, Americans have remained silent as our government encroaches on our freedoms. Join Michael Farris, founder and chancellor of Patrick Henry College and Chairman of the Home School Legal Defense Association as he delves into the history of our nation's most important document and provides the training to turn America back towards a proper understanding of American Liberty.

Our loyalty is to the rule of law, that is, our Constitution, not a man, not a president, but to the law that allows limited scope of power to each branch of our government, and which finds its accountability in the people who decide when enough is enough.

ABC "Family and Jennifer Lopez Try to Normalize Sodomy In New Drama

Warning: more immorality being shoved down our throats. ABC "Family" and Jennifer Lopez are trying to normalize lesbian-led foster families, despite it being contrary to what our Creator has already established. The drama, called "The Fosters" starts this Monday night. Watch out for commercials promoting it as well, if you watch anything half-way decent on that channel like "Full House".

Romans 1 couldn't be any clearer on this issue.

No Difference Between Number of "Christians" and All Americans Who Read "50 Shades of Grey"

According to the "Christian" Post:

A new study has revealed there is no difference between the percentage of Christians who have read Fifty Shades of Grey and the percentage of all Americans who have read the book, which has at times been described as "mommy porn."

According to Barna Group researchers, nine percent of practicing Christians have read E.L. James' erotic novel, and the same percentage of all American adults have done the same. Sixteen percent of women have read the bestseller, which was more popular among older readers – one out of ten of both Busters (ages 29-47) and Boomers (ages 48-66) say they have read the book. Among those adults who read Fifty Shades, one-in-five (19 percent) were practicing Christians.

End quote.

"For the purpose of the research, "practicing faith Christians" were those who self-identified as Christian or Catholic, who had attended a church service in the last month and who strongly agreed that their faith is "very important" to them." ~CP reported

This is a grievous error because Catholics are not Christians (different gospel, different Bible, different worship, different ecclesiology, different God). Furthermore a person who can't fit God to their busy schedule to go to church except perhaps once every 4 weeks (and I bet that's a generous claim) shows an utter lack of a desire for the biblical things of God. It contradicts their claim that "faith is very important to them". If its very important, they'd be committed to obeying the Lord Jesus Christ and be under the teaching of Scripture and leadership of elders and deacons in corporate worship as the Bible says we're to do (Heb. 10 for example). Moreover, this would really be a demonstration of love and loyalty to Christ and His church. To not do this is to show one is lacking true love of that which Christ loves: His church.

Just because people claim to be Christians, doesn't it make it so. The fruit in their life as well as the doctrine they believe is what is to be tested by Scripture to know if they are truly in Christ or not. Reading porn is not Christian and violates several passages in Scripture. True Christians have a marked distinction from the world. If you've read this porn book, you should question yourself to see if you are truly in The Faith, in Christ Jesus, and read 1John which is full of spiritual tests.

On another but related note:

One hotel in the UK has replaced the Holy Scriptures, which alone are the inspired Word of God, able to make a person wise unto salvation, has all the answers to life's most important issues, with.....the pornographic book "50 Shades of Grey".  Often, those who travel frequently could use something that's actually beneficial to their souls, not something that will get them into immorality and possibly ruin marriages and families, not to mention the mental images that pollute their minds. Indeed this is twisted.

Good News

Gov. Rick Scott (R-FL) on Tuesday vetoed a bill that would have required Florida hand out driver’s licenses to illegal immigrants, a sign he is taking a stand against the left in favor of conservatism.

White House Edits Michelle Obama's Threat Exchange With Heckler

It seems the White House edited the exchange between Michelle Obama and her threat, with fellow liberal heckler.

(By the way, Michelle needs a new writer. Constant use of "its for the kids" or "its about our children" is getting very old very fast. Everyone knows what she's been promoting for years has zero to do with children and everything to do with her statist agenda--for example what we eat or the amount of exercise we get. That's Communism folks. That's not liberty.

Even Republicans do the same thing. Use the magic word "children" and suddenly you get more money or pass a bill or proposition. Using children to get an agenda through which as nothing to do with the true care of children is despicable, below the belt, and utterly shameful.)

Sexualizing Toddlers

This article reports on a "transgender child presumed suicidal at age 4".

A toddler presumed suicidal and transgender?! Whatever happened to childhood innocence? Not to mention that there are no mistakes with God. People are created either male of female. Can't tell? There's always the physical evidence: body parts and DNA.

Gen 1:27  So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.

Its just sick how the "experts" and parents in our society are demanding to sexualize our little ones. Unreal the depravity and wickedness! Our culture and its  twisted and ignorant "experts" who are leading the parade down the road of destruction, don't even recognize what normal is anymore.

It also shows in that article, the reality that diagnosis by "experts" is totally subjective. Its a total shot in the dark and they know it. Its a guessing game. Look up certain symptoms in the handy-dandy DSM and see if they can find a disorder. First it was ADHA, then bipolar, and then the huge leap to "identity disorder". That was after he was called "depressed" (really? A FOUR YEAR OLD TODDLER?) They had no idea what do label this little boy--as if he needed a label.

http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2013/05/12/dsm-psychiatry-mental-disorders/2150819/ is just the most recent article--I've read four others that are secular also and say the same thing.

Psychology is deadly both emotionally, mentally, and spiritually and sometimes physically. It truly is nothing but doctrines of demons and utterly destructive.

DSM V: Caffeine Withdrawals Now A Syndrome

The APA and its DSM has voted to now include caffeine withdrawals as a mental disorder.

Making my point yet again, that psychology and its bible, the DSM, is based on foolishness and subjectivity (they "felt" this would be good to include in the DSM V--of course merely to "make sure everyone is aware of it"(a Public Relations duty??)--never mind the fact that their own cures a la psychotropic drugs give some of the same--but often must worse--symptoms). They continue to make what is normal to be a syndrome and thus make millions of people suddenly a victim. In fact, these people don't even recognize normality anymore. If caffeine withdrawal has proven physical evidence (not anecdotal, not mere subjectivity, but hard, cold, repeatable, scientific facts) then it is not a "mental disorder" at all, but a physical reaction to a lack of caffeine which the body was accustomed to. Its not mental, but physical.

Jay Leno Makes A Good Point

When host Jay Leno joked that President Obama should close the IRS rather than the terrorist detention center in Guantanamo Bay, the audience erupted in thunderous applause (video follows with transcript and absolutely no need for additional commentary)..

The Sound You Now Hear Is The GOP Helping Obama Rip Up The Constitiution

Speaking to reporters Tuesday, Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., took on the issue—and stumbled.
"Who is a journalist is a question we need to ask ourselves," he said. "Is any blogger out there saying anything—do they deserve First Amendment protection? These are the issues of our times."
Sadly NR's Brian Fung who wrote the report from which I just shared an excerpt, went on to help with damage control, which should not be done. Graham said what he said and for a long time he's been nothing but a slightly conservative Democrat in a Republican's dress. A US Senator cannot misspeak on something so HUGE as the freedom of speech, especially on the Internet. Nope, I believe this was a revelation of how far from the Constitution the old GOP guard has gone in their hot pursuit of not being left behind in liberal politics. After all, this is the exactly what the Obama administration has already proved to believe: they don't need no stinking Constitution.

Consider this recent report:

A conservative watchdog group, Judicial Watch, accused the Obama administration of using federal law to specifically protect Muslims from criticism.
"In its latest effort to protect followers of Islam in the U.S. the Obama Justice Department warns against using social media to spread information considered inflammatory against Muslims,

"They Claim To Speak For God" --Watch out!

Excerpts:
In his excellent book Wandering Stars: Contending for the Faith with the New Apostles and Prophets(see TBC 03/13 ), which has been a chief resource in this series, Keith Gibson summarizes the foundational errors of the movement regarding the Bible: “So what can we conclude after this brief survey of the attitudes and words of the modern apostles and prophets concerning the Scripture? One would have to conclude that the Bible alone is an insufficient guide for the end-time church. New doctrines, not found in the Bible, are needed to perfect the church. Scripture is generally inspiring but basically unreliable. It is insufficient to convince the world of God’s truth….It does not provide the parameters to faith and practice and does not give us the norms for the activity of the Holy Spirit. The Canon of Scripture is not closed, and, in fact, many of the words of today’s prophets carry a higher level of revelation, anointing, and authority than some of the words of Scripture. And lastly, the Bible cannot be understood by any normal means. Grammar, history, and context are completely irrelevant. The words of Scripture can be redefined and ripped out of context to discover the ‘deeper’ meaning for today’s church. There is no objective interpretation or understanding of Scripture. The Bible means whatever one wants it to mean” (pp. 105-6)....
For a true believer in Christ to accept manifestations such as falling and writhing on the floor, uncontrollable shaking, hysterical laughing, and making various animal sounds as though they were the work of the Holy Spirit would seem to indicate that the person has taken leave of his senses. It is more reasonable to conclude, however, that they have taken leave of the Scriptures...
There are countless numbers of ministries, websites, blog sites, and the like, that advance the false doctrines and manifestations of the movement. To name but a few, there is the Elijah List, The International House of Prayer (IHOP), Bethel Church (Redding, CA), Identity Network, Morning Star Ministries, Streams Ministries International, Glory of Zion, City Bible Church (Portland, OR), and the Christian International Apostolic Network. C. Peter Wagner’s International Coalition of Apostles has a membership of hundreds who profess to be apostles manifesting apostolic authority.
If you thought these things were outside your "solid" circle of Christian teachers/pastors/speakers, think again. Here are some of the most popular and proclaimed "sound" teachers of our day embracing these heretical ministries:
As I reported the other day, Francis Chan, an Emergent who is heartily welcomed among Piper  fans, will be preaching at an IHOP conference in December according to his own website. Chan, along with John Piper joined hands with 'Jesus Culture', the ministry /music branch of Bethel Church (Redding, CA), and Judah Smith of The City Church. Matt Chandler shared the pulpit in 2012 with Judah Smith also. Rick Warren is a disciple of C. Peter Wagner back in is Fuller Theological Seminary days. Mark Driscoll also promotes Judah Smith of The City Church.

EPA Also Targeted Conservative Groups

It's not just the IRS.

A second federal agency is facing a probe and accusations of political bias over its alleged targeting of conservative groups.

The allegations concern the Environmental Protection Agency, which is being accused of trying to charge conservative groups fees while largely exempting liberal groups. The fees applied to Freedom of Information Act requests -- allegedly, the EPA waived them for liberal groups far more often than it did for conservative ones.

Francis Chan To Speak At Heretical Cult IHOP

Francis Chan is now schedule to speak at very heretical IHOP

He directly links to IHOP.

IHOP (International House Of Prayer) headed by Mike Bickle is full of heresy. Here's a list of articles for understanding the danger of IHOP:

Calvary Chapel's Brian Broderson Is Wrong on "Mental Ilness" and Is. 42:3

Calvary Chapel's Brian Broderson has clearly bought into the myth of mental illness.

Is. 42:3 is not talking about "mental illness" and to claim that is to 1) believe the myth that there is such a things, and 2) read into that passage what isn't there.

The myth of mental illness is discussed here which includes the issue of termonology, lack of any scientific evidence including the lack of any biological markers, the use of drugs, "chemical imbalance"(another myth), the DSM handbook of mental disorders, and the history and background of psychology.

Is. 42 isn't talking about mental illness.

Isa 42:1  Behold my servant, whom I uphold, my chosen, in whom my soul delights; I have put my Spirit upon him; he will bring forth justice to the nations.
Isa 42:2  He will not cry aloud or lift up his voice, or make it heard in the street;
Isa 42:3  a bruised reed he will not break, and a faintly burning wick he will not quench; he will faithfully bring forth justice.
Isa 42:4  He will not grow faint or be discouraged till he has established justice in the earth; and the coastlands wait for his law.

Its talking about the righteous reign of the Lord Jesus Christ in the millennial kingdom. In verse 3 we see contrasts, which emphasizes Jesus' absolute righteous justice and mercy. It harkens over to Jesus' teaching on the Mount of Olives in Matt. 5:

Mat 5:1  Seeing the crowds, he went up on the mountain, and when he sat down, his disciples came to him.
Mat 5:2  And he opened his mouth and taught them, saying:
Mat 5:3  "Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Mat 5:4  "Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.
Mat 5:5  "Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.
Mat 5:6  "Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.

The poor in spirit are those who see their spiritual bankruptcy, are humbled ("meek") before the thrice holy God and thus mourn over their sin and turn to Christ, finding mercy, forgiveness, eternal life, desiring His righteousness, and becoming co-heirs with Christ when He rules visibly this earth.

There's a similar teaching found in Luke 4 by Jesus which also gives clarity to the passage:

Luk 4:17  And the scroll of the prophet Isaiah was given to him. He unrolled the scroll and found the place where it was written,
Luk 4:18  "The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed,
Luk 4:19  to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor."
Luk 4:20  And he rolled up the scroll and gave it back to the attendant and sat down. And the eyes of all in the synagogue were fixed on him.
Luk 4:21  And he began to say to them, "Today this Scripture has been fulfilled in your hearing."

A good example of this is the publican in Luke 18 as John MacArthur notes on Luke 4:

For example, the widow in Luke 21:2 is the widow who had just a few pennies, she was poor. She had very little. But ptochosmeans you have absolutely nothing, and that is the word here. The Messiah will come and bring good news to the people who are destitute, the people who have nothing. And spiritually speaking, this is talking about people who recognize that they have nothing by which to commend themselves. In Luke 6:20 Luke records Jesus saying, "Blessed are you who are poor, for yours is the Kingdom of God." And again it's a repeat ofMatthew 5:3, "Blessed are the poor in...what?...in spirit," not in money, but the poor in spirit. That is the condition of every sinner. Every sinner is morally bankrupt. Every sinner in the words of Isaiah could count his righteousness as filthy rags. Every sinner is destitute of anything to commend himself to God. And, of course, this goes contrary to the Jewish mentality, they thought that by their good works and by their self-advancement by keeping ceremonial law and obeying the Mosaic system, at certain points being fastidious legalists they would earn salvation. And Jesus comes and shatters that entire view and says, "The only people that Messiah is going to be able to bring salvation to are those who recognize their spiritual destitution." As long as you think you're a good person, as long as you think your religion counts for something, your morality counts for something, you're damned to eternal hell and you have an irremediable condition. The poor are those, on the other hand, who recognize their total spiritual destitution. They are completely unable to recover without help. They're like the people in Psalm 107 again, wandering in the desert, no food, no water and they know it. They're like those people sitting in darkness. They're like those people sitting in chains, like those people in the storm of the sea, there are no human resources to solve their dilemma, they can only cry out to God. They're the true poor, the true prisoners, the true blind and the true oppressed. So the person who comes to the realization there are no saving resources available, they can only beg for mercy from God alone, they and they alone receive the grace of salvation. All pride is gone, all self-assurance is gone. They are utterly empty-handed, without commendation, who alone can turn to God and receive from Him what they cannot themselves generate.
Their poverty is not an act, by the way, it's not a false piety, it's not a false humility, it's the real thing. They have the humble and broken spirit of Isaiah 66:2, the broken heartedness and crushed in spirit referred to in Psalm 34:18, or the broken and contrite heart of Psalm 51. They're like the publican in Luke 18 beating on his breast, "God, be merciful to me, a sinner." And he falls down and he won't even look up, he won't lift his eyes to even look toward heaven because he's cringing and cowering in his spiritual destitution. And next to him is the Pharisee saying, "I thank You that I'm not as other men, but I fast and I tithe and I do all these good things. Aren't I great?" And Jesus said, "The man begging, the man with his face down went home justified, not the other one. It is the state of spiritual bankruptcy then where a person really sees their own helpless condemnation.
End quote.

DEMAND ATTORNEY GENERAL ERIC HOLDER'S RESIGNATION

American Center for Law and Justice :

2,420

HAVE SIGNED THE PETITION ONLINE

The House of Representatives is investigating Attorney General Eric Holder for perjury.
Under oath, he said that he was not involved in the "potential prosecution of the press for the disclosure of material."
Yet we learned that he personally signed off on search warrants for a Fox News reporter that called the reporter a possible “co-conspirator” in a leak case.
And that’s merely his latest offense as Attorney General.
He has stonewalled the Fast & Furious investigation, he’s been cited for contempt of Congress, and his Department of Justice has launched vast and intrusive investigations of members of the media.

Petition for Attorney General Eric Holder’s Resignation

As Attorney General, you are the nation’s chief law enforcement officer, yet you seem to show little regard for the laws that apply to you. You must resign to restore public confidence in the Department of Justice.

God Knows What We Need

"I know, O LORD, that thy judgments are right, and that thou in faithfulness hast afflicted me." (Psalm 119:75)
One of the most perplexing aspects of the Christian life is trying to understand God's purpose when defeat or affliction comes into our lives, thereby hindering or even halting our ministry and testimony for Him. Many have been the servants of God who were sincerely working for Christ, seeking to obey His will and His Word as best they understood them, but then suddenly were laid aside by sickness, or had their ministries stopped by the enemies of God (sometimes even by fellow Christians), or for some other reason, and could not discern why God allowed it.
What then? When affliction comes, we must simply trust God, knowing that whatever He does is right and that our affliction is invested with His faithfulness.... More here.

The Empty, Anti-biblical "Help" from Rick Warren During A Tragedy

"Megachurch pastor Rick Warren tweeted a few days after the tornado, "In deep pain, people don't need logic, advice, encouragement, or even Scripture. They just need you to show up and shut up."Love."

~USA Today

This shows the darkness of Rick Warren. His damnable heresies are absolutely worthless to anyone facing any sort of trial or tragedy, including  his own son's. A true Christian knows exactly where to point a hurting person: to the Scriptures and the Lord Jesus Christ. But then, one would actually have to believe and trust in both to do so.

2Co 1:3  Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, 4  who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. 5  For as we share abundantly in Christ's sufferings, so through Christ we share abundantly in comfort too. 6  If we are afflicted, it is for your comfort and salvation; and if we are comforted, it is for your comfort, which you experience when you patiently endure the same sufferings that we suffer.

2Co 1:8  For we do not want you to be ignorant, brothers, of the affliction we experienced in Asia. For we were so utterly burdened beyond our strength that we despaired of life itself. 9  Indeed, we felt that we had received the sentence of death. But that was to make us rely not on ourselves but on God who raises the dead.

We also know how comforting Psalms is for those in distress. Who hasn't jetted over to that precious book and read something so familiar like Ps. 23 about God shepherding His own people? How often is that chapter quoted from at funerals even by unbelievers? And yet Warren wants people to not even do that? That is hostility toward what is true, pure, holy, helpful, and powerful.

There is reason for our trials and our suffering for those in Christ. It is for our good and His glory. It is to know His comfort and then give that to others who in turn are suffering. For those outside of Christ, it is a call to humbly repent of one's sins and seek God for forgiveness and salvation, "while it is still called 'Today'". In other words, tragedy is really God's mercy and grace.

On a side note, I found it hypocritical how Rick Warren didn't "shut up" against his critics shortly after his son's death either. To tell people who give Scripture to those who have suffered loss to "shut up" and "love" is nothing short of Satan's doing. Its the antithesis of love. True love knows the God of all comfort and will act with that love, not just sit there silent while a person suffers and call that "compassion". Agape love is always Christ-centered and Christ-focused and for the Christian, that is true comfort regardless if we can't comprehend God's specific reason for a trial in our lives. We do know this as a fact: all that God does is for His glory and our good and our trials aren't just for us, as 2Cor. 1 says above--its to help others. All is not lost!

Rom 8:27  And He who searches hearts knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God. 28  And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to His purpose.

There's the true, biblical, hope-filled answer.

Is "All Truth God's Truth"?

If "all truth is God's truth" is a valid statement, then one is equating revealed (special), inspired (from God's very mouth), truth which is by its source holy and pure, with that which is unholy, worldly, temporal, of the flesh, seen, discoverable by all men even or especially those who are unregenerate God-haters. It is to lower the Scriptures to an unholy place, as if its just another truth, another textbook. Such a claim takes away the authority and power of Scripture which is unique only to it (2Tim. 3:15-16; Matt. 4:4). Ps. 138:2  states that God exalts His Word and His name above all else, but the statement "all truth is God's truth" lowers it from such a lofty and authoritative and unique place where God has placed it. In fact, its to reverse what HE does with His Word. It lowers the holy Scriptures to a mundane, finite place of truth that even unregenerate dead men can understand as easily as a mathematical equation. God's revelation is not discoverable, as Bookman discusses below; rather it is proclaimed by God Himself.

Observation is not revelation.

Foundation matters because it shows the origination of where something is from and thus whether it has any authority.. James 3 states there area but two places, two kinds of wisdom in this world--one is true and pure and beneficial for the soul; the other is deadly and demonic:

Jas 3:13  Who among you is wise and understanding? Let him show by his good behavior his deeds in the gentleness of wisdom.
Jas 3:14  But if you have bitter jealousy and selfish ambition in your heart, do not be arrogant and so lie against the truth.
Jas 3:15  This wisdom is not that which comes down from above, but is earthly, natural, demonic.
Jas 3:16  For where jealousy and selfish ambition exist, there is disorder and every evil thing.
Jas 3:17  But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, reasonable, full of mercy and good fruits, unwavering, without hypocrisy.
Jas 3:18  And the seed whose fruit is righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace.

Peace starts with God and His salvation because man is at war with Him. There is no spiritual peace (which is true, eternal peace) for those not saved nor for those with worldly wisdom.

Because psychology's foundation is literally worldly and demonic, it is powerless to deal with man's true over-arching foundational problem: sin.

Psychology in its foundation and principles deny:
each person of the Trinity
that the triune God of Scripture is Creator and thus has all authority over all creation
that Jesus is the risen Savior and Master
the authority and power of Scripture
the Person and work of the Holy Spirit in the believer's life
the reason and goal of salvation
man's total depravity before the thrice holy God
the Fall

Psychology  is Self-seeking and Self-preserving, not Christ-glorifying, Christ-honoring, nor Christ-loving; therefore psychology cannot lead a person to Christ, cause them to love Him above all else, follow Him to the exclusion of all else, and cannot deal with the problem of sin.

2Co 6:14  Do not be bound together with unbelievers; for what partnership have righteousness and lawlessness, or what fellowship has light with darkness?
2Co 6:15  Or what harmony has Christ with Belial, or what has a believer in common with an unbeliever?
2Co 6:16  Or what agreement has the temple of God with idols? For we are the temple of the living God; just as God said, "I WILL DWELL IN THEM AND WALK AMONG THEM; AND I WILL BE THEIR GOD, AND THEY SHALL BE MY PEOPLE.
2Co 6:17  "Therefore, COME OUT FROM THEIR MIDST AND BE SEPARATE," says the Lord. "AND DO NOT TOUCH WHAT IS UNCLEAN; And I will welcome you.

Col 2:2  that their hearts may be encouraged, having been knit together in love, and attaining to all the wealth that comes from the full assurance of understanding, resulting in a true knowledge of God's mystery, that is, Christ Himself,
Col 2:3  in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.
Col 2:4  I say this so that no one will delude you with persuasive argument.

Col 2:8  See to it that no one takes you captive through philosophy and empty deception, according to the tradition of men, according to the elementary principles of the world, rather than according to Christ.
Col 2:9  For in Him all the fullness of Deity dwells in bodily form,
Col 2:10  and in Him you have been made complete, and He is the head over all rule and authority;

Col 2:20  If you have died with Christ to the elementary principles of the world, why, as if you were living in the world, do you submit yourself to decrees, such as,
Col 2:21  "Do not handle, do not taste, do not touch!"
Col 2:22  (which all refer to things destined to perish with use)--in accordance with the commandments and teachings of men?
Col 2:23  These are matters which have, to be sure, the appearance of wisdom in self-made religion and self-abasement and severe treatment of the body, but are of no value against fleshly indulgence.

Col 3:1  Therefore if you have been raised up with Christ, keep seeking the things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.
Col 3:2  Set your mind on the things above, not on the things that are on earth.
Col 3:3  For you have died and your life is hidden with Christ in God.
Col 3:4  When Christ, who is our life, is revealed, then you also will be revealed with Him in glory.

James 3 as noted earlier, calls the wisdom of the world to be earthly and demonic and produces nothing but evil and chaos and bloats pride.

Psychology can't nor does it promote spiritual truth. It doesn't call the sinner to repentance, self-denial, to exaltation of Christ Jesus above all else, to love God with all of one's heart, strength, mind and soul (even though "psychology" means "study of the soul"). In other words, psychology cannot deal with the soul at all, nor the absolute all-encompassing problem of disobeying the first and greatest of all the commands in all of Scripture: to love God with all your heart, mind, soul, and strength.

Instead, psychology makes the sinner, who has repeatedly offended the thrice holy God of Scripture, to be the victim, the offended one. The customer/client of psychology is at war with his Maker and pride is his problem. Because of this foundational truth (starting from Gen. 3- Rev. 22), there is no peace for the sinner. Unless he stops warring with God and bows in humble repentance before Him, confessing his sin to God and realizes he is earning God's wrath for all of his lawless deeds, then he'll never be whole.

Bookman refutes the notion that human discoveries can be regarded as God’s revelation. He says:

The issue, then, is not whether it is possible that truth might be discovered by human investigation of the natural and moral universe; rather, the issue is whether truth thus discovered can be assigned to the category of general revelation, and to prove that such material discovery can effect spiritual change.
My contention is that by reason of the proper definition of the theological category "general revelation" and by reason of the intrinsic and divine integrity and authority that must be granted to any truth-claim that is placed under that category, it is erroneous and misleading to assign to that category humanly deduced or discovered facts and theories. The issue is larger than appropriate taxonomy. In fact, to assign such humanly determined truths to the category of general revelation introduces a twofold fallacy into the argument when it is used as a rationale for the integrationist position.

First, there is the fallacy that might be termed falsely perceived validity. Revelation is from God; thus it is by definition true and authoritative. To assign human discoveries to the category of general revelation is to imbue them with an aura of validity and consequent authority that they do not, indeed, they cannot merit. Thus, to assign a concept to the category of general revelation when that concept is in fact a theory concocted by a person is, in effect, to lend God’s name to a person’s ideas. That is fallacious, no matter the intrinsic truth or falsehood of the theory under consideration.

The second fallacy might be called crippled accountability. That is, once it is acknowledged that these theories are revelatory in nature, the issue of challenging them becomes moot. Much may be said about testing the ideas thus derived before acknowledging them as part of that august body of truth that God has communicated in the natural order of things, or about honoring the distinction in intrinsic authority between general and special revelations, but to craft an argument for integration based upon the equal merits and authority of general revelation and special revelation is functionally to short-circuit such efforts and to deny such distinctions. Very simply, if it is revelation, then God said it; if God said it, then it is true; when God speaks truth, mankind’s responsibility is not to test that truth but to obey it. It is self-contradictory to insist that general revelation can include truths that must be "studied and examined for their trustworthiness."

In summary, then, the integrationist rationale that arises from the claim that perceived truths established by human research constitute a subset of the category general revelation, and thus possess the authority and dependability native to revelation, is flawed first of all in its misdefinition of the term revelation. Inherent to the biblical concept of revelation is the idea of nondiscoverability.***

I have written about this before:

Natural Theology's Fallacy:

Natural theologians constantly commit one of the simplest errors. They take an idealized and romantic modern concept of human “Reason,” that developed during the Renaissance, particularly during the French Revolution, and insert it back into biblical times and even attempt to insert it into biblical texts. But is it possible that ancient writers, most of whom died thousands of years before the Renaissance, knew of and believed in modern Renaissance romantic ideals of an exalted and abstract “Reason,” before whom all must bow, including God?

Ideas have a history that we cannot ignore. We can trace when, where, and through whom an idea first appeared in history. Newton’s idea of the “law of gravity” and Einstein’s “theory of relativity” are good examples of this.

The attempt to take a modern idea and push it back thousands of years before it appeared in history is a grave mistake. If someone claimed that Einstein’s theory of relativity was taught in the Bible, they would be grossly mistaken. But this is exactly what those who believe in Natural Theology, Natural Law, and Philosophy do all the time.

The French Natural Philosophers had abstracted, idealized, romanticized, and then absolutized human reason into an all-seeing, all-knowing, omnipresent, omnipotent, infallible, “Reason.” They took man’s limited and faulty ability to think about issues and then came to a conclusion and elevated it into the Origin of truth, justice, morals, meaning, and beauty. “Reason” was the measure of all things, including God. They had replaced “God” with “Reason.” During the French Revolution, people were dragged before the “bar” or bench of a rationalist judge who proclaimed their guilty verdict in the name of “Reason.”

This is one of the fundamental methodological errors of J.P. Moreland, Norman Geisler, William lane Craig, Greg Koukl, Francis Beckwith, et al. They cite such texts as Isa. 1:18 (”Let us reason together”) and Acts 17:2 (”Paul…reasoned with them”), to prove (sic) that the modern Renaissance concept of “Reason” can be found in the Bible. They assume that the mere presence of the verb “reason” in such passages is sufficient proof that the authors of Scripture knew of and believed in the Renaissance concept of the noun “Reason.”

First, it is outrageous for them to insert a modern idea into ancient biblical times and texts.

Second, none of them even attempt to do any exegesis of the texts they cite. It would appear that they never bothered to check the Hebrew or Greek. They cite texts much like Jehovah’s Witnesses.

Third, even if we pretended, in a moment of insanity, that modern Renaissance ideas like “Reason” could magically appear in ancient biblical times and texts, this would still require hard exegetical work to support it.

Nearly all the Hebrew and Greek words translated “reason” have nothing to do with human “reason” per se but are simple conjunctions. They are grammatical, not anthropological, in nature.

Morey goes on to use a Hebrew and Greek examples using Greek and Hebrew. Then he says:

Quote:

One last comment is in order. Some Natural theologians have argued that if we reject the Renaissance abstract concept of “Reason,” we are denying that man can “reason” from point A to point B. But this argument is an example of the fallacy of equivocation.

To reject an abstract idealized “Reason,” i.e. Rationalism, is not the same thing as rejecting man’s capacity to “reason.” The biblical authors viewed man’s capacity to think through issues and to come a conclusion as a reflection of the image of God. While they believed in “reasoning,” this does not mean they knew or believed in “Reason.”

Another Natural theologian objected to our use of the lower case “r” and the capital letter “R.” But his objection fell flat when we asked, “If the use of capital and lower case letters bothers you, does the distinction between the capital “G” and the lower case “g” in “god” and “God” bother you as well?”

In conclusion, the authors of Scripture did not know of or believe in the modern Renaissance concept of an abstract absolute “Reason.” Any attempt is to read that concept back into the Bible is sheer ignorance at best and gross deception at worse. Thus, Natural Theology is a total sham.

Dr. John Robbins of The Trinity Foundation says: "Decades ago Francis Schaeffer warned the church about Thomas Aquinas and ‘nature eating up grace.’ By this he meant that if you give ‘natural revelation’ an epistemological inch, it will displace Scripture."
