Why it matters that your favorite leader/speaker/teacher/writer has the Gospel right: it will infect others if they are wrong.
"The reason for saying, “when consistently worked out,” is because I think it is possible to inconsistently deny the truth of imputation while embracing other aspects of the gospel (blood bought forgiveness, and propitiation, for example), through which God mercifully saves.
I am thankful that God is willing to save us even when our grasp of the gospel may be partial or defective. None of us has a comprehensive or perfect grasp of it."
~ John Piper
In my response to Piper's recent tweet making Coptics out to be Christians, to which I said they are not Christians at all....
@SurphSide Copts may be Nestorian and their Christology imperfect. But shouldn't we let the Son of Man decide who are His? Not you
God is precise on doctrine for a reason: the wrong gospel and wrong gospel condemns a person to Hell for eternity.
We can't afford to be wrong on either.
Gal 1:7 not that there is another one, but there are some who trouble you and want to distort the gospel of Christ.
Gal 1:8 But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach to you a gospel contrary to the one we preached to you, let him be accursed.
Gal 1:9 As we have said before, so now I say again: If anyone is preaching to you a gospel contrary to the one you received, let him be accursed.

You are right Lynn! The road to eternal life is narrow and the way is hard and few that find it, Jesus said. I think it's so sad that people put this group of people into the "saved" category when they are all going to Hell unless they hear the biblical gospel about the biblical Jesus and get saved by Him.
