I believe in God. I also believe God. “Discernment is not simply a matter of telling the difference between what is right and wrong; rather it is the difference between right and almost right.” -Charles Spurgeon. Scripture is my authority for all things regarding to life and godliness. 2 Cor.10:5 We are destroying speculations and every lofty thing raised up against the knowledge of God, and we are taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ
I am in agreement with you. From little children parading up and down giving offering that was given to them so they could give it and be applauded to political flags in the room where worship takes place to birthday and wedding anniversary celebrations in the worship service, topical preaching that does not present the Word. Little of what passes for Christian worship has Christ as its focus. sigh
I've also witnessed a wedding renewal vows at church (just after the worship service). Also singing happy birthday to elderly people. It's a distraction for sure. Worse is the 20 minutes of music to get people in the mood to bother about the Word of God (if it's even faithfully preached). I know, it's hard and getting harder. I was bombarded by the unbiblical doctrinal triage of "essentials" vs "non-essentials" which left out the biblical account of Creation in 6 literal days, by a principle of a "Christian" school here. Seriously, it's getting darker and darker. I'm so thankful that the Lord has seen to give us a small little flock we can be a part of that leaves all that nonsense out so we can focus on the living Word and really have like faith based on biblical doctrine without qualification.
