Mark Dever: despising prophecy and treating Scripture as strange

Leaders in the Evangelical Mafia Machine like Mark Dever despise biblical doctrine and set up man-man constructs to divide and chop up the King's commands and doctrine into parts they think are worth their time and attention and those that aren't. This is what Al Mohler, another Evangelical Mafia Machine leader calls the doctrine triage (prioritizing or triaging doctrine into catagories of importance, like doctors do in the emergency room with patients).

As I reported previously, Dever rebelliously states (bold, my emphasis):

"Therefore for us to conclude that we must agree upon a certain view of alcohol, or a certain view of schooling, or a certain view of meat sacrificed to idols, or a certain view of the millennium in order to have fellowship together is, I think, not only unnecessary for the body of Christ, but it is therefore both unwarranted and therefore condemned by scripture."

"So if you’re a pastor and you’re listening to me, you understand me correctly if you think I’m saying you are in sin if you lead your congregation to have a statement of faith that requires a particular millennial view. I do not understand why that has to be a matter of uniformity in order to have Christian unity in a local congregation."

However he is despising prophecy of Scripture and quenching the Holy Spirit, which also leads people into wickedness, since sound doctrine (which includes the Christology) is inseparably married to our sanctification.

1Th 5:19  Do not quench the Spirit;
1Th 5:20  do not despise prophetic utterances.
1Th 5:21  But examine everything carefully; hold fast to that which is good;
1Th 5:22  abstain from every form of evil.

Hos 8:12  Though I wrote for him ten thousand precepts of My law, They are regarded as a strange thing.

Rev 1:2  who bore witness to the word of God and to the testimony of Jesus Christ, even to all that he saw. 3  Blessed is he who reads and those who hear the words of the prophecy, and heed the things which are written in it; for the time is near.

Teach all biblical doctrine, for all Truth is one unit, one body of Truth:

Mat 28:19  "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit,
Mat 28:20  teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age."

Mat 22:40  "On these two commandments depend the whole Law and the Prophets."

Jas 2:9  But if you show partiality, you are committing sin and are convicted by the law as transgressors. 10  For whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles in one point, he has become guilty of all.

Act 3:21  whom heaven must receive until the period of restoration of all things about which God spoke by the mouth of His holy prophets from ancient time.
Act 3:22  "Moses said, 'THE LORD GOD SHALL RAISE UP FOR YOU A PROPHET LIKE ME FROM YOUR BRETHREN; TO HIM YOU SHALL GIVE HEED in everything He says to you
Act 3:23  'And it shall be that every soul that does not heed that prophet shall be utterly destroyed from among the people.'

Act 5:19  But an angel of the Lord during the night opened the gates of the prison, and taking them out he said,
Act 5:20  "Go your way, stand and speak to the people in the temple the whole message of this Life."

Act 20:20  how I did not shrink from declaring to you anything that was profitable, and teaching you publicly and from house to house,
Act 20:21  solemnly testifying to both Jews and Greeks of repentance toward God and faith in our Lord Jesus Christ.

Act 20:27  "For I did not shrink from declaring to you the whole purpose of God.

Tit 1:9  holding fast the faithful word which is in accordance with the teaching, that he may be able both to exhort in sound doctrine and to refute those who contradict.

2Ti 3:16  All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; 17  that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work.

1Ti 4:13  Until I come, give attention to the public reading of Scripture, to exhortation and teaching.

1Ti 6:12  Fight the good fight of faith; take hold of the eternal life to which you were called, and you made the good confession in the presence of many witnesses.

Jud 1:3  Beloved, while I was making every effort to write you about our common salvation, I felt the necessity to write to you appealing that you contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all delivered to the saints.

Does eschatology matter? Does one's view of the Millennium matter? Here's what Scripture states:

The messianic, kingly rule does matter, because Jesus being the promised Messiah ("Christ") and Savior and Judge are all inseparably bound to each other. If God gave us the truth regarding the Millennial rule of the Messiah in Scripure, then it is by definition not only knowable, but we are bound to believe and obey it. Eschatology is directly bound to the Person of Christ and our sanctification.

Rev 1:1  The revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave him to show to his servants the things that must soon take place. He made it known by sending his angel to his servant John,
Rev 1:2  who bore witness to the word of God and to the testimony of Jesus Christ, even to all that he saw.
Rev 1:3  Blessed is the one who reads aloud the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear, and who keep what is written in it, for the time is near.

Rev 1:10  I was in the Spirit on the Lord's day, and I heard behind me a loud voice like a trumpet
Rev 1:11  saying, "Write what you see in a book and send it to the seven churches, to Ephesus and to Smyrna and to Pergamum and to Thyatira and to Sardis and to Philadelphia and to Laodicea."

Rev 19:9  And the angel said to me, "Write this: Blessed are those who are invited to the marriage supper of the Lamb." And he said to me, "These are the true words of God."

Rev 19:11  Then I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse! The one sitting on it is called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he judges and makes war.

Rev 21:5  And he who was seated on the throne said, "Behold, I am making all things new." Also he said, "Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true."

Rev 22:7  "And behold, I am coming soon. Blessed is the one who keeps the words of the prophecy of this book."

Rev 20:1  Then I saw an angel coming down from heaven, holding in his hand the key to the bottomless pit and a great chain.
Rev 20:2  And he seized the dragon, that ancient serpent, who is the devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years,
Rev 20:3  and threw him into the pit, and shut it and sealed it over him, so that he might not deceive the nations any longer, until the thousand years were ended. After that he must be released for a little while.
Rev 20:4  Then I saw thrones, and seated on them were those to whom the authority to judge was committed. Also I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded for the testimony of Jesus and for the word of God, and those who had not worshiped the beast or its image and had not received its mark on their foreheads or their hands. They came to life and reigned with Christ for a thousand years.
Rev 20:5  The rest of the dead did not come to life until the thousand years were ended. This is the first resurrection.
Rev 20:6  Blessed and holy is the one who shares in the first resurrection! Over such the second death has no power, but they will be priests of God and of Christ, and they will reign with him for a thousand years.
Rev 20:7  And when the thousand years are ended, Satan will be released from his prison

Rev 22:7  "And behold, I am coming soon. Blessed is the one who keeps the words of the prophecy of this book."

Rev 22:18  I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: if anyone adds to them, God will add to him the plagues described in this book,
Rev 22:19  and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God will take away his share in the tree of life and in the holy city, which are described in this book.

2Th 2:1  Now we request you, brethren, with regard to the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and our gathering together to Him,
2Th 2:2  that you may not be quickly shaken from your composure or be disturbed either by a spirit or a message or a letter as if from us, to the effect that the day of the Lord has come.
2Th 2:3  Let no one in any way deceive you, for it will not come unless the apostasy comes first, and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the son of destruction,
2Th 2:4  who opposes and exalts himself above every so-called god or object of worship, so that he takes his seat in the temple of God, displaying himself as being God.
2Th 2:5  Do you not remember that while I was still with you, I was telling you these things?
2Th 2:6  And you know what restrains him now, so that in his time he may be revealed.
2Th 2:7  For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only he who now restrains will do so until he is taken out of the way.
2Th 2:8  And then that lawless one will be revealed whom the Lord will slay with the breath of His mouth and bring to an end by the appearance of His coming;
2Th 2:9  that is, the one whose coming is in accord with the activity of Satan, with all power and signs and false wonders,
2Th 2:10  and with all the deception of wickedness for those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth so as to be saved.
2Th 2:11  And for this reason God will send upon them a deluding influence so that they might believe what is false,
2Th 2:12  in order that they all may be judged who did not believe the truth, but took pleasure in wickedness.

The David Covenant is inseparably bound to Christ Jesus the Messiah and His salvation:

Jer 33:15  'In those days and at that time I will cause a righteous Branch of David to spring forth; and He shall execute justice and righteousness on the earth.
Jer 33:16  'In those days Judah shall be saved, and Jerusalem shall dwell in safety; and this is the name by which she shall be called: the LORD is our righteousness.'
Jer 33:17  "For thus says the LORD, 'David shall never lack a man to sit on the throne of the house of Israel;
Jer 33:18  and the Levitical priests shall never lack a man before Me to offer burnt offerings, to burn grain offerings, and to prepare sacrifices continually.'"

Jer 33:25  "Thus says the LORD, 'If My covenant for day and night stand not, and the fixed patterns of heaven and earth I have not established,
Jer 33:26  then I would reject the descendants of Jacob and David My servant, not taking from his descendants rulers over the descendants of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. But I will restore their fortunes and will have mercy on them.'"

Mat 1:1  The book of the genealogy of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham.

Mat 2:1  Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, magi from the east arrived in Jerusalem, saying,
Mat 2:2  "Where is He who has been born King of the Jews? For we saw His star in the east, and have come to worship Him."

Mat 27:11  Now Jesus stood before the governor, and the governor questioned Him, saying, "Are You the King of the Jews?" And Jesus said to him, "It is as you say."

Isa 9:6  For a child will be born to us, a son will be given to us; And the government will rest on His shoulders; And His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace.
Isa 9:7  There will be no end to the increase of His government or of peace, On the throne of David and over his kingdom, To establish it and to uphold it with justice and righteousness From then on and forevermore. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will accomplish this.

Isa 11:1  Then a shoot will spring from the stem of Jesse, And a branch from his roots will bear fruit.
Isa 11:2  And the Spirit of the LORD will rest on Him, The spirit of wisdom and understanding, The spirit of counsel and strength, The spirit of knowledge and the fear of the LORD.
Isa 11:3  And He will delight in the fear of the LORD, And He will not judge by what His eyes see, Nor make a decision by what His ears hear;
Isa 11:4  But with righteousness He will judge the poor, And decide with fairness for the afflicted of the earth; And He will strike the earth with the rod of His mouth, And with the breath of His lips He will slay the wicked.
Isa 11:5  Also righteousness will be the belt about His loins, And faithfulness the belt about His waist.
Isa 11:6  And the wolf will dwell with the lamb, And the leopard will lie down with the kid, And the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; And a little boy will lead them.

Act 2:29  "Brethren, I may confidently say to you regarding the patriarch David that he both died and was buried, and his tomb is with us to this day.
Act 2:30  "And so, because he was a prophet, and knew that GOD HAD SWORN TO HIM WITH AN OATH TO SEAT one OF HIS DESCENDANTS UPON HIS THRONE,
Act 2:31  he looked ahead and spoke of the resurrection of the Christ, that HE WAS NEITHER ABANDONED TO HADES, NOR DID His flesh SUFFER DECAY.
Act 2:32  "This Jesus God raised up again, to which we are all witnesses.
Act 2:33  "Therefore having been exalted to the right hand of God, and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, He has poured forth this which you both see and hear.
Act 2:34  "For it was not David who ascended into heaven, but he himself says: 'THE LORD SAID TO MY LORD, "SIT AT MY RIGHT HAND,
Act 2:35  UNTIL I MAKE THINE ENEMIES A FOOTSTOOL FOR THY FEET."'
Act 2:36  "Therefore let all the house of Israel know for certain that God has made Him both Lord and Christ--this Jesus whom you crucified."
Act 2:37  Now when they heard this, they were pierced to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, "Brethren, what shall we do?"
Act 2:38  And Peter said to them, "Repent, and let each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

Act 5:29  But Peter and the apostles answered and said, "We must obey God rather than men.
Act 5:30  "The God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom you had put to death by hanging Him on a cross.
Act 5:31  "He is the one whom God exalted to His right hand as a Prince and a Savior, to grant repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins.
Act 5:32  "And we are witnesses of these things; and so is the Holy Spirit, whom God has given to those who obey Him."

2Pe 3:10  But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, in which the heavens will pass away with a roar and the elements will be destroyed with intense heat, and the earth and its works will be burned up.
2Pe 3:11  Since all these things are to be destroyed in this way, what sort of people ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness,
2Pe 3:12  looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, on account of which the heavens will be destroyed by burning, and the elements will melt with intense heat!

1Th 3:12  and may the Lord cause you to increase and abound in love for one another, and for all men, just as we also do for you;
1Th 3:13  so that He may establish your hearts unblamable in holiness before our God and Father at the coming of our Lord Jesus with all His saints.

1Th 5:1  Now as to the times and the epochs, brethren, you have no need of anything to be written to you.
1Th 5:2  For you yourselves know full well that the day of the Lord will come just like a thief in the night.
1Th 5:3  While they are saying, "Peace and safety!" then destruction will come upon them suddenly like birth pangs upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.
1Th 5:4  But you, brethren, are not in darkness, that the day should overtake you like a thief;
1Th 5:5  for you are all sons of light and sons of day. We are not of night nor of darkness;
1Th 5:6  so then let us not sleep as others do, but let us be alert and sober.
1Th 5:7  For those who sleep do their sleeping at night, and those who get drunk get drunk at night.
1Th 5:8  But since we are of the day, let us be sober, having put on the breastplate of faith and love, and as a helmet, the hope of salvation.
1Th 5:9  For God has not destined us for wrath, but for obtaining salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ,
1Th 5:10  who died for us, that whether we are awake or asleep, we may live together with Him.

1Pe 1:3  Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His great mercy has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
1Pe 1:4  to obtain an inheritance which is imperishable and undefiled and will not fade away, reserved in heaven for you,
1Pe 1:5  who are protected by the power of God through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.
1Pe 1:6  In this you greatly rejoice, even though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been distressed by various trials,
1Pe 1:7  that the proof of your faith, being more precious than gold which is perishable, even though tested by fire, may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ;
1Pe 1:8  and though you have not seen Him, you love Him, and though you do not see Him now, but believe in Him, you greatly rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory,
1Pe 1:9  obtaining as the outcome of your faith the salvation of your souls.
1Pe 1:10  As to this salvation, the prophets who prophesied of the grace that would come to you made careful search and inquiry,
1Pe 1:11  seeking to know what person or time the Spirit of Christ within them was indicating as He predicted the sufferings of Christ and the glories to follow.

1Pe 4:7  The end of all things is at hand; therefore, be of sound judgment and sober spirit for the purpose of prayer.

To say that one's millennial view is as unimportant as a personal preference on food or drink, is to reject absolute Truth, which is how God sanctifies us:

Joh 17:17  "Sanctify them in the truth; Thy word is truth.

Consider all the warnings to the churches in Revelation, too.

Rev 1:3  Blessed is the one who reads aloud the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear, and who keep what is written in it, for the time is near.

2Pe 3:11  Since all these things are to be destroyed in this way, what sort of people ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness,

To have such disdain for the Davidic Covenant, that is, the Messiahship of Jesus, is to have disdain for not only God's plan, but for the faithfulness, truthfulness, and knowability of His Word. It's really an attack on His person because He clearly stated that Jesus the Messiah would come through David's line and His throne would not end (this is also attached to the Abrahamic Covenant). This attacks--even prohibits true unity based on biblical doctrine. What Dever is really doing is questioning the clarity, authority, and faithfulness of His Word and Person just as the devil did in the Garden of Eden:

Gen 3:1  Now the serpent was more crafty than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said to the woman, "Indeed, has God said, 'You shall not eat from any tree of the garden'?"
Gen 3:2  And the woman said to the serpent, "From the fruit of the trees of the garden we may eat;
Gen 3:3  but from the fruit of the tree which is in the middle of the garden, God has said, 'You shall not eat from it or touch it, lest you die.'"
Gen 3:4  And the serpent said to the woman, "You surely shall not die!
Gen 3:5  "For God knows that in the day you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil."

Dever is an anti-Christ, with an anti-Christ spirit, preaching anti-Christ doctrine.
