David Wilkerson Predicts Destruction of NYC By Fire--He Claims The Spirit Told Him

Here we go again! Will these false prophets ever HUSH UP?

Now its David Wilkerson, a man who rides on his testimony of decades ago which was made into a movie. He claims God has given him a vision of impending, specific doom as reported at Worldnetdaily:

[He] "tells readers of his blog this weekend that he is "compelled by the Holy Spirit to send out an urgent message" about his prediction.

"An earth-shattering calamity is about to happen," he writes. "It is
going to be so frightening, we are all going to tremble – even the godliest
among us."

Wilkerson's vision is of fires raging through New York City.
For ten years I have been warning about a thousand fires coming to New York City. It will engulf the whole megaplex, including areas of New Jersey and Connecticut. Major cities all across America will experience riots and blazing fires – such as we saw in Watts, Los Angeles, years ago," he explains. "There will be riots and fires in cities worldwide. There will be looting – including Times Square, New York City. What we are experiencing now is not a recession, not even a depression. We are under God’s wrath. In Psalm 11 it is written, "If the foundations are destroyed, what can the righteous do?"

"God is judging the raging sins of America and the nations," claims Wilkerson. "He is destroying the secular foundations." Wilkerson urges everyone to stockpile a 30-day supply of food and other necessities to deal with the catastrophe he foresees.

"I do not know when these things will come to pass, but I know it is not far off," Wilkerson concluded in his message. "I have unburdened my soul to you. Do with the message as you choose."

Sounds vaguely like the scare of Y2K with the clamour to stockpile rice and canned food.

The problem is that God's judgement, according to Scripture, will "begin at the house of God", not New York City. And I have to wonder, why NYC? Is not Las Vegas just as bad, if not worse in its blatant immorality of sex, drugs, alcohol, gambling, and mob-crime? Why not San Francisco with its blatant homosexual push? And why did He only tell David Wilkerson? Why not someone who is an unknown yet faithful believer of Jesus Christ? Why is it that God only speaks through a "famous" person?

I've heard many other such predictions which never come to fruition. They are literally a dime a dozen. Its supposed to be a sign that you are still worthy for God to use you. And perhaps that is what this is. Wilkerson was quiet for some time, and now with a "thus saith the Lord" and ta da! He's gained media attention once again.

Wilkerson's message from, what he thinks is the Holy Spirit, is that "we are all going to tremble--even the godliest among us." What does he mean by "the godliest" and why would they tremble? What I have observed is that most professing Christians have little fear of God right now. An event that might occur in a couple of cities is going to suddenly cause them to fear? Why? What does that say about them?

Those in Christ have no fear of judgment (1John 4:17-18). To the church in Ephesus, Jesus told them: Rev 2:10 Do not fear what you are about to suffer. Behold, the devil is about to throw some of you into prison, that you may be tested, and for ten days you will have tribulation. Be faithful unto death, and I will give you the crown of life.
We know that HIS Word is true and right and what Jesus foretold would occur. However, what Wilkerson is saying is pure conjecture at best and should not be considered from God. Rather we have the completed Scripture is alone is our anchor and foundation.
NYC is never mentioned in Scripture, nor is America and to call this "earth shattering calamity" and "so frightening we are all going to tremble-even the godliest among us" seems to be of biblical proportions on the scale of Sodom and Gamorrah or Jerusalem in 70 A.D., yet its not mentioned in all of Scripture. Where is the cry to the unbelievers to repent? Why not be on the street corners shouting to turn to Christ? Even Noah proclaimed the message of righteousness prior to the Flood. Is David Wilkerson doing this?
No, I don't buy it. What I do believe is that America is earning God's judgement, and it IS starting but not how these false prophets predict. No, its beginning in the churches. Its where the persecution of believers has already started. HE is sifting out His children of some of these churches, placing them into better churches, I believe, so that His hand will come down upon those that claim Him yet their leadership and church is a mockery of God and His name. I believe He is protecting His sheep by removing them from where they are and placing them in safe pastures.

Hi,

I do not know if David Wilkerson's warning is from the Lord or not, but I do believe a special calamity is going to come to New York City.

It is logical really. As you said New York does not have a special prophetic significance, yet today it is the seat of the United Nations, the fledgling world government.

The world government according to Scripture, is Babylon, not New York. Something will happen to New York so that the UN will move someplace else. 911 was not enough, so it will be something bigger. Simple logic.
