Cruz's Right: We Aren't (Or Weren't Anyway) Al-Qaeda's Air Force Nor Do We Have A Dog In The Syrian Civil War

On Tuesday, Sen. Ted Cruz distilled the current debate over possible military action in Syria to its essential dilemma. While Syrian President Bashar Assad is certainly a ruthless dictator, the forces aligned against him are dominated by jihadis and elements of terrorist organizations. Cruz noted that Americans didn't enlist in the military to "serve as Al-Qaeda's Air Force."

“We certainly don’t have a dog in the fight,” Cruz said, calling it a civil war in Syria.

“I’ll give you one of the simplest principles of foreign policy that we ought to be following," Cruz said. "Don’t give weapons to people who hate you. Don’t give weapons to people who want to kill you."

Absolutely correct. He said it far better than I could.

I believe that McCain and other politicians should be held for treason in backing known terrorist organizations that are enemies of the US. Especially when there's nothing of our vital interests there. If ten years in Afghanistan and Iraq hasn't made that clear, then nothing will.

A Western worldview will never be acceptable to the Muslim worldview. Its past time people understand this.

Rush with an idea that might help Assad:

RUSH:  You know, there might be a way out of this for Bashar Assad, and that is join the Communist Party.  The Democrats will not go after a communist.  John Kerry tried to stop all aid to the Contras and prop up the communist government in Nicaragua -- and it wasn't John Kerry, all the Democrats.  If Bashar Assad would somehow start quoting Marx and aligning himself with that way of thinking, it would give Obama and his bunch pause.  They'd have to stop and reconsider.
