This is utterly shameful and will not go unpunished by God. This is exactly why He destroyed entire cities and nations. America is earning His judgment and righteous wrath as we head into the sins of Sodom, Gomorrah, and Rome. This is not what our Founding Fathers could ever have envisioned for this country, either.
God's
condemnation of homosexuality is abundantly clear--He opposes it in every age.
- In
the patriarchs (Genesis 19:1-28)
- In the Law of Moses (Leviticus 18:22; 20:13)
- In the Prophets (Ezekiel 16:46-50)
- In the New Testament (Romans 1:18-27; 1 Corinthians 6:9-10; Jude 7-8)
- In the Law of Moses (Leviticus 18:22; 20:13)
- In the Prophets (Ezekiel 16:46-50)
- In the New Testament (Romans 1:18-27; 1 Corinthians 6:9-10; Jude 7-8)
Why does
God condemn homosexuality? Because it overturns God's fundamental design for
human relationships--a design that pictures the complementary relationship
between a man and a woman (Genesis 2:18-25; Matthew 19:4-6; Ephesians 5:22-33).
God condemns homosexuality also because it perverts not only His design of marriage and thus human relationships and the bedrock of society, but also because of its picture of the unity between Christ and His flock:
Eph 5:22 Wives, be subject to your own husbands, as to the Lord.
Eph 5:23 For the husband is the head of the wife, as Christ also is the head of the church, He Himself being the Savior of the body.
Eph 5:24 But as the church is subject to Christ, so also the wives ought to be to their husbands in everything.
Eph 5:25 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself up for her,
Eph 5:26 so that He might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word,
Eph 5:27 that He might present to Himself the church in all her glory, having no spot or wrinkle or any such thing; but that she would be holy and blameless.
Eph 5:28 So husbands ought also to love their own wives as their own bodies. He who loves his own wife loves himself;
Eph 5:29 for no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as Christ also does the church,
Eph 5:30 because we are members of His body.
Eph 5:31 FOR THIS REASON A MAN SHALL LEAVE HIS FATHER AND MOTHER AND SHALL BE JOINED TO HIS WIFE, AND THE TWO SHALL BECOME ONE FLESH.
Eph 5:32 This mystery is great; but I am speaking with reference to Christ and the church.
Eph 5:33 Nevertheless, each individual among you also is to love his own wife even as himself, and the wife must see to it that she respects her husband.
Jude 1:7 just as Sodom and Gomorrah and the surrounding cities, which
likewise indulged in sexual immorality and pursued unnatural desire, serve as
an example by undergoing a punishment of eternal fire.
But there is true hope. Such can be reconciled to God through faith and trust in the Person and work of the resurrected Lord Jesus Christ, repenting of one's sins and seeking forgiveness and mercy from God. Such can indeed be freed from the bondage of sin and darkness and find light, truth, and freedom, along with true peace and joy in the salvation of Christ Jesus:
1Co 6:11 And such WERE some of you. BUT you were washed, you were sanctified, you
were
justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our
God.
