Normalizing the Abnormal

I heard  a couple of radio talk show hosts discussing an article in a local newspaper in Los Angeles by a woman psychologist type, who was  hand-wringing over the "cheering" of the suicide of Ariel Castro, the man who kidnapped, raped, and held hostage three women in Ohio for ten years (he also admitted to doing it). This isn't the first time psychologists are puzzled at why someone would do such a horrible thing, and try to blame our culture for these individuals, begging for understanding about their motives and background. They also, don't understand people glad to see such a horrible criminal gone.

I think it comes down to this: psychologists try to normalize the abnormal, and then require a "compassionate" or  "normal" normal response of such heinous criminals, and blame us for such animals.
