At Costco, The Bible Is Labeled "Fiction"

After the typical run-around, Costco claimed the labeling of the Bible as "Fiction" to be "human error". Deliberate? Maybe.

As Todd Starnes from Fox News reported:

“Let’s hope Costco’s explanation is true and not the result of having been caught attempting to marginalize the very foundation of Christian beliefs, the Bible,” Pastor Jeffress told me. “Christians need to call out organizations like Costco whose actions undermine Christianity – regardless of whether those actions are accidental or intentional.”
Steven Smith, of Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, said the fiction label identifies the thinking of the labeler more than the content of the book.
“To label the Bible fiction is a practical front for an ideological foundation that assumes things spiritual are unreal,” he told me. “What is odd about this choice is the glut of books in the "religion and spirituality" sections in mainstream book stores. However, as large as "spirituality" sections are, there must not be any room for Christianity. Modern thinking on spirituality is too exclusive to allow for the Bible.”

Think they'd do the same to the quran? Scripture is non-fiction, absolute truth. Of course the quran is not, but do you think Costco's label people would dare risk insulting Muslims by labeling their religious book as "fiction"? Nope, you know they wouldn't. That could earn them a fatwa. Biblical Christians, however, don't use violence, much less murder, for being insulted or worse, persecuted for loving and following the risen Lord Jesus Christ, so they are easier to try to bully. However, biblical Christians won't back down on their faith and obedience to Christ.

***UPDATE***

Costco apologizes. Typical. Do or say whatever you want, apologize, and all is well. That's the sure-fire way to do and say whatever you want with no consequences. "Sorry" would hardly be enough for the Muslims, had this happened to the quran. Whatever.

Oh,no another story about how Christians are a victim again. Instead of worrying about what others think of your beliefs, you must force others to comply with them or they are "bullies". As for Biblical Christians not killing people in the name of their beliefs, I think that the gays of Uganda would have disagree with you on that point.

Hedgehog,

It seems that my post bothered you enough to write something, so you DO care about what others think/believe, contrary to your "advice" for me. That's pretty hypocritical.

Btw, you are uniformed of what is a BIBLICAL Christian. I used that term deliberately because a biblical Christian is one who strives to live according to Scripture. That would absolutely include not murdering others to submit to Christianity or for political gain. Please read carefully next time.
