If you want to give money to help the people in the Philippines following the deadly typhoon, I can recommend Children's Hunger Fund. It's a solid Christian organization that aids various countries by putting food into the hands of local churches, who then in turn give it to their community. The local churches are Evangelical ones, and they are the hands-on contacts with their own communities, not some big quasi-religious or secular organization who rushes in then rushes out and takes a huge chunk of the donations for their salaried employees. In fact, CHF is listed by Forbes and others as one of the most cost-effective charities in the nation.
Here is their statement of faith and their distinctives. You'll notice that the Gospel is the top priority.
